Crazy. Beat a still hot Rays team.6 in a row for the A’s.
With the help of questionable outfield defense, probably the most infamous cycle. View: https://youtu.be/1Z76ikGhpwwJT Realmuto hit for the cycle last night in a loss in Arizona. First Philly cycle since ‘04 and 15th catcher ever to do it.
That team still won 89 games. That was an odd year. In the AL, 9 out 14 team were over .500. 4 teams lost over 90 games. The other team was 80-82.The only Red Sox pitcher I remember from that travesty is Felix Doubront. Fernando Cabrera and Ramon Ramirez? And the CF who misplayed that ball into a triple was some guy named Eric Patterson.
He’s carved out a nice career.Yaz gets revenge for the '67 World Series:

That's a 4.90 ERA. Only Oakland's bullpen has be worse this year.
I am having trouble finding a better angle of this play. The swing was a bit awkward and took Meyers way forward in the box, and his job from there is to run straight to the base, right? It seems entirely possible to me that his baserunning was legal per the rules, but a full replay from behind the plate is eluding me.
Who will bring more in return ... Kenley or Martin? What will they give us for Kenley? I like their second baseman.
Ended up with 11 Ks thru 4 1/3 innings, so all but two outs that way. Also 4 hits, 3 walks and 2 ER. Amazing.Taj Bradley has struck out the first 9 batters of today's game against OAK.

Not necesssarily "Stright to the base." Legal is between the lines for the last 30 feet. (even though the base itself is on the wrong side of the "running lane)". I thought he was pretty close to the base, so its really hard to tell.I am having trouble finding a better angle of this play. Since 2022Is Jess Mendoza the analyst for the Dodgers now?
Well that sucks. I thought I was done with her. I see that she still makes nonstop totally pointless comments. In the first inning she said that Freeman doesn't take pitches off. Does every other player often take pitches off during ABs? That comment made me wonder if it was Mendoza speaking.Since 2022
(Part time. Karros and Willis the other two analysts)
Gonna be tough to trade Ohtani if they are in first place.Rangers have cooled off a little and Yordan Alvarez won’t be back for another couple of weeks. The opportunity is there for the Angels to move up in the West.
They are right in the Wild Card race too.

I’m going to take this reference to the White Sox as the flimsiest excuse to post a link to this article by James Fegan, a White Sox beat writer who was let go in the latest round of layoffs.White sox are teeing off of dodgers pitching this week

Dodgers about to have 2nd worst BP in mlb. Only Oak has a worse BPDodgers are currently 11th in the NL in ERA. The last time they didn't lead the NL in ERA was 2016.
John Millers call tops every one of themComplete chaos at the end of the 11th in LA: Giants up 7-5, 1 out, man on 2nd, Mookie hits a routine infield pop-up. Giants 3B Schmitt drops it, the SF pitcher Junis picks it up and for no reason fires it over the 1st baseman's head, so the Dodgers are going to have 2nd & 3rd with 1 out and Freeman coming up. Except the runners get caught in a rundown, and Busch inexplicably didn't just go back to 3rd when he had the chance and gets tagged out. So it's now Mookie on 3rd with 2 outs, and then Freeman K's on three pitches to end the game.
A great call by the play by play guy: "It was handed to them on a silver platter and they dropped it on the ground."
edit: this is the play but with a different set of announcers:

Mookie Betts reaches on a fielding error by third basemar Casey Schmitt. Mookie Betts to 3rd. Throwing error by pitcher Jakob Junis. Michael Busch out at home, first baseman David Villar to second baseman Thairo Estrada to shortstop Brandon Crawford to catcher Patrick Bailey to pitcher Jakob Junis.
On Pride Night, no less. Bad way to honor the communityThe Dodgers also ended up with J.D Martinez playing the outfield and losing the DH so Roberts could get Austin Barnes an at bat.
Maybe there is a gas leak in the Dodgers clubhouse.
