Wasn't Jon Singleton the ex Astro pictured on the cover of SI in 2016 right as the team's tanking started to come to fruition and they started to become good.
Great news all around for baseball fans.Elly De La Cruz called up by the Reds.
Alek Manoah sent down by the Jays.
Would have liked the former a week ago to have the possibility of seeing him in person.Great news all around for baseball fans.
I’m blacked out of Cincinnati games here in NC (don’t get me started), so I won’t be able to watch him outside of the odd nationally televised game.Would have liked the former a week ago to have the possibility of seeing him in person.
Add 26 more wins and you have Tim Lincecum10 years, 2 CY Youngs but only 84 career wins, too.
If he's just getting TJS now, he'll be lucky to even pitch next season as well. At best what, 4 or 5 starts down the stretch if everything goes perfectly for him?
https://metsmerizedonline.com/jacob-degrom-tommy-john-surgery/The deal was structured in a way to give the Rangers some insurance in case deGrom dealt with injuries in the early stages of the contract. It states that, if from 2023 to 2026, deGrom pitcher had Tommy John surgery on his right elbow or any right elbow or shoulder injury that caused him to be on the injured list for a period of 130 consecutive days during the season or 186 days in a row during a service period, the sixth year in 2028 would be a $20 million team option. Given that deGrom will be out for at least 12 months, the organization will now have this option.
If deGrom avoided surgery, that would’ve been a $37 million player option. The 2028 option can revert back to a player option if deGrom pitches 160 innings, has a Top 5 Cy Young Award finishes, and ends the season healthy.
He didn't just get sent down, he got sent to the Florida Complex League:Elly De La Cruz called up by the Reds.

And people here are critical of Chris Sale, a relative bargain of 87.5 million for his 22 starts so far in the same period!
Shades of Roy Halladay circa 2001. Worked out well in the end for Halladay. Can't say I'm rooting for the same results for Manoah though. He didn't just get sent down, he got sent to the Florida Complex League:

4 years and $155M left on the deGrom contract. Lit on fire. Sorry Rangers. Who could have seen it coming. And people here are critical of Chris Sale, a relative bargain of 87.5 million for his 22 starts so far in the same period!
This is awesome. Love seeing teams like the Pirates try to improve through the year instead of holding him back for next year and the potential RotY draft boons. The Oakland situation sucks, but having teams like Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Miami, Minnesota and Arizona at least in the competition for playoff spots makes the sport better. The Pirates are promoting 2021 No. 1 overall pick Henry Davis to the majors. Drafted as a catcher, he's expected to see time in RF and behind the plate. / Post-Gazette / mlbtr
He also was with the club for an entire month and didn't get into a single game. The Braves released Charlie Culberson on Fathers Day. His dad was scheduled to throw out the first pitch.
Cold AF.He also was with the club for an entire month and didn't get into a single game.

That’s terrific. Somewhere I have a BBB hat from a Negro League tribute game, I think at Shea. That's going to be much cooler than the Field of Dreams. MLB sent out a survey last year asking about locations to have games and I put Rickwood in as my top choice. I imagine I wasn't alone on that.
They say it's going to be a celebration of Willie Mays. As unlikely as it is to happen, it would be awesome if he could possibly attend.
Three years later, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred thinks that perhaps he should have tried to suspend Houston Astros players after all.
In a wide-ranging interview with TIME, the commissioner said that he would like a do-over on “some of the decisions surrounding the Houston situation,” referring to the Astros’ electronic sign-stealing scandal.
Oh gee, why would the fans not be deliriously excited over attending games at a shithole stadium with a bottom 5 payroll every season? Just say the quiet part out loud Rob, 'The fans didn't go for our continued extortion attempts to publicly fund a stadium, so screw 'em.'Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred says one big turnout by Oakland Athletics fans doesn't change "a decade worth of inaction" as he defended earlier comments about the "reverse boycott" held in protest of the team's proposed move to Las Vegas.
What are your feelings about putting a game, top 3 rivalry, in a 1/3 empty stadium in non-baseball market on national tv?I can’t believe that Id be looking at the days of Bud Selig and wish that he was still commissioner. At least he liked baseball.
Once Manfred is out, the amount of shit that he’s done to ruin baseball as a whole is going to be a mile long.
