I’m wondering if game times are creeping up a bit. Last nights game was 2:39 - which is short, but pitching changes were predominantly between innings.

Pitchers seem to be gaining more time by:
1. Feigning comms problems (seemed to me a favorite tactic of Scherzer)
2. Asking for a new ball

Batters: nearly every batter requests their one time out.

Haven’t seen much written on this since May.

I heard Casting on Friday run through a half-dozen other proposed team names for the Mets back in the 60s. Avengers was one of them.

It's too bad the league in 1961 didn't decide to name the team after the actual zip code, i.e. the Brooklyn Dodgers, instead of the general area, i.e. New York. Imagine how much fun could have been had with naming a team the Flushing *******s.

But isn't Flushing a neighborhood of Queens and isn't Queens more analogous to Brooklyn? What would you do with the Queens ______? I like the Queens Kings.

Both franchises used the city name. Brooklyn wasn’t part of NYC when the Dodgers franchise was established in 1883.

The Enrique Hernandez thing is looking completely inexplicable at this point.

The only thing I can think of is if they think one week of possible hot hitting might shave a few million $ in a salary dump deal seven days from now. (And how realistic that is, I have no idea, I'm just putting it out there.)

Or maybe he's clubbing the ball in the cage and his inability to hit a baseball on a non-popup trajectory is entirely game-performance mental. (And how realistic that is, I have no idea, I'm just putting it out there.)

But if neither of those are true, just call up Pablo Reyes to be your stopgap to Story (and maybe your backup guy after him.)

And if Arroyo is injured. . .put him on the DL and call up Pablo Reyes.

Cotillo has been writing all week that today is the final day that Reyes can be stashed away; so some sort of move -- even if it's only to DFA Reyes -- is coming in the next day or so

FWIW, I’ve actually heard the radio guys talking about how he sprays the ball around the whole field during batting practice with regularity. And then the game comes, and it seems like he’s just trying to jack one over the monster every time.

Same here. It's a lengthier -- and, admittedly, more successful -- version of Donnie Sadler Syndrome. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Keekay's offense improved should he be traded away

Game 100
100 games in - just 2 games out.
Are we filled with hope or filled with doubt?
Sometimes it seems like we have some clout:
Other times, we have nothing to tout.
Some games we’re awesome, making fans shout.
Other games, awful, making us pout.
Our hitters can rock, create a rout,
or be so weak it seems they gave gout.
Our pitchers’ arms can be strong and stout,
or serve up cookies like a girl scout.
Is Cora one to cheer or to flout?
Is Bloom a genius or a dumb lout?
Should either get a punch in the snout?
Hard to predict what this team’s about.
Will we struggle like a fish-hooked trout?
Rot on the bottom like old tile grout?
Be on top like hotdog sauerkraut?
Go on a big run or have a drought?
If we want the post season to sprout,
we need some water. Open the spout!

He last played on the 18th. So they've had 5 days where they're really not going to use him with Pablo Reyes in the minors, more or less ready to go. (And Hamilton for 40-man depth after that.)

I wonder if this is in some way related to the trading deadline.

Because otherwise it seems like a no-brainer.

Too late, they just got showed the ‘86 lowlights on Baseball Tonight before I could grab the remote.
On the plus side, Bill Lee is scheduled for the Kayrod broadcast at some point.

Looks like - as a non cable guy - I'm blacked out on my MLB app.
Anyone know, if MLB will post the full video or condensed game after the broadcast?
If so, I may choose to busy myself elsewhere and tune in afterward to watch as if live.

The interview with Masa was good on ESPN regardless of Eduardo Perez embarrassing himself.

Can you listen to it?
I can and likely will. A lot of my evening Red Sox viewing is done in the evening, watching silently on the phone with subtitles while I watch TV with the my wife. It's a bit harder to listen and watch things with her, though I have done it before. If I knew for sure the game could be watched later tonight, I'd prefer that option. Oh well. The joys of trying to save on cable and relying on dumb blackout rules.

How did he embarrass himself? I ask that as someone who just watched the interview.
Too lengthy with the questions. Keep it short and easy, he deliberately dragged it out. Maybe embarrassing was the wrong choice but not a Perez fan so it just makes it worse. However I love Masa.

That's on ESPN. It wasn't a live interview, so his job is to get content and they can then edit however they want.
