Sometimes I'm not sure what is wrong with the Sox. Is it the hitting or the pitching? Are the Sox trying too hard? For example, it would have been better if Duvall could have piloted his hit ball between the fielders rather than hit it so hard.

Ouch, maybe Turner isn't very good at second?

I understand the balls were hit hard, but they were both directly at him. And both ruled hits when we know a decent 2B makes them.

Maybe Alex Cora's "faith" in Hernandez at SS and Turner at 2B is completely delusional?

They have a bunch of players who defensively should be DHs, and offensively don’t hit for enough power to justify being DHs.

I’m glad they got out of it, but this has to be the worst defensive Red Sox team of my lifetime (I’m 78½ years old).

You just can't do that. Once a big guy like Duvall swings the bat, he has no control over where the ball is going to go. Especially when the ball is coming in at 92 - 100 mph and/or has a tone of spin on it. You just pray you hit it somewhere fair.

And yet, somehow, the Red Sox haven't been charged with an error
Casting on the radio earlier in the game was talking about it being a league directive to call everything a hit. Presumably it's not written down anywhere.
