I'm buying his jersey now.
ha!  well, of course he is far from a sure thing, but his numbers in the minors have been good this year--dominant at Pawtucket with 30-3 K-BB over 22.1 innings and just 15 hits.  Sox prospects write up says he can reach 95 with a slider that has shown some potential.  Will have to see how/whether this all works at the major league level, but sounds like an interesting profile.

I've never heard of him.  I thought the OP hit enter too soon and cut off the last part of his name.    Hope he kicks ass though.

Aro not on the 40 man.  My guess is Kratz gets the DFA since Swihart could have played last night.

Kratz most likely getting the DFA, but the 40-man is at 39 with him anyway.

95MPH slider?!  Yikes. I was at a game in '04 vs. Minnesota (sellout streak #100) in which Scott Williamson threw a 93MPH slider on a K. At the time I mentioned that I didn't thnk I'd ever seen one that fast and joked about exploding elbows. He was removed from his next appearance and went on the DL for 2 months, was criticized by Schilling, came back and was pretty much done.

Just a long way of saying 95MPH slider?!  Yikes.

He threw 22.1 innings at both AA and AAA this year, but notched 30 Ks in AAA and only 19 in AA.

Aro is the most promising bullpen prospect (i.e. someone who hasn't started significant innings after A ball) in the organization.  His peers being Noe Ramirez, MIguel Celestino, and Dayan Diaz to name a few.  They tend to be either really good stuff but inconsistent/lack of command types (Diaz) or good command/consistency types with mediocre offerings (Ramirez).  Aro has arguably the best command/consistency of the group and yet has some pretty nicely projectable offerings with his fastball and change being respectable and his slider having potential to be more than that.

He also has a history of throwing multiple innings per appearance.  I could see him being a non-crazy version of Alfredo Aceves if everything works out.  That or as he ages a bit more he finds consistent mid-90's velocity on the fastball and becomes a solid late inning reliever on par with Tazawa.  Floor would probably be a solid back of the bullpen type.

Kid has struck out a batter an inning in the minors, posted a 3.5:1 K:BB and kept the ball in the park.  This year he's at 12 K/9 and a 10:1 K:BB in AAA.  Don't see why he shouldn't get a real shot at this point.  Someone please mercy-kill Craig Breslow.  Please.
