ha! well, of course he is far from a sure thing, but his numbers in the minors have been good this year--dominant at Pawtucket with 30-3 K-BB over 22.1 innings and just 15 hits. Sox prospects write up says he can reach 95 with a slider that has shown some potential. Will have to see how/whether this all works at the major league level, but sounds like an interesting profile.Chief_Macho said:

At the time I mentioned that I didn't thnk I'd ever seen one that fast and joked about exploding elbows. That seems like a typo. Alex Speier tweets that his fastball is 91-93mph and I've yet to see a guy throw his slider harder than his fastball.

Aro is the most promising bullpen prospect (i.e. someone who hasn't started significant innings after A ball) in the organization. His peers being Noe Ramirez, MIguel Celestino, and Dayan Diaz to name a few. They tend to be either really good stuff but inconsistent/lack of command types (Diaz) or good command/consistency types with mediocre offerings (Ramirez). Aro has arguably the best command/consistency of the group and yet has some pretty nicely projectable offerings with his fastball and change being respectable and his slider having potential to be more than that.moondog80 said:

That or as he ages a bit more he finds consistent mid-90's velocity on the fastball and becomes a solid late inning reliever on par with Tazawa. Floor would probably be a solid back of the bullpen type.

Totally rooting for him now (not like I wasn't anyway).
Kid has struck out a batter an inning in the minors, posted a 3.5:1 K:BB and kept the ball in the park. This year he's at 12 K/9 and a 10:1 K:BB in AAA. Don't see why he shouldn't get a real shot at this point. Someone please mercy-kill Craig Breslow. Please.
