Haha, they need "experts" to tell them to go to the hotel to get the video, despite the fact that they have some of the top law enforcement officials who are experienced on their crew.

The league has announced that Goodell will be holding a press conference Monday at 9am to address the leagues obvious failure in providing proper security for press conferences.

I don't Goodell is bad at press conferences. I just think that he has done so many stupid, inexplicable things, that it is impossible to salvage a press conference like this. Winston Churchill couldn't have dug himself out of this hole.

And the TMZ guy killed him for it.

"We got the tape with one phone call, can you explain how your entire legal deparment couldn't get it?"

Then he smugly looks at him and says "we can't, that's your job to explain!"

What did Nichols ask? I was pulled away.

THe picture cut out a bit for me I believe it was regarding the integrity of an investigation by someone whose law firm is in bed with the league.

Hopefully the owners are starting to understand that they are not going to be able to "ride this out".  This looks awful for the league.  they have to let him go.

Roger needs to do the "I've got time for one more question" thing, turn back to Peter King for it and get out of Dodge.  This is continuing to spiral out of control.  it will not get nay better.

Just tuning in now. He is completely fumbling the question re: no black women on DV panel. Your average high school debater could do. 1000% better. that question was foreseeable and he had no fuckung clue what to do with it.

Has the whole thing been this bad????

I don't think she was listening, Roger said the committee wouldn't have power to actually act.

The most annoying thing about this is that idiots like King, Jerry Jones, etc., will go on the shows and talk about how well Goodell handled himself and how much he's repairing the league's image.  It's the GOP playbook.  Ignore reality, repeat the same talking points over and over, and eventually stupid people will believe them.

Bruschi would have, but I think ESPN locked him in a closet and replaced him with Herm Edwards for that very reason.

Yes, he made a speech filled with vague statements then answered every question by referring back to the speech of vague statements.

He's got to stop waffling about the video issue. If he kept to the "we need to change our policy" message and then said, like everyone else on this issue, "seeing that second video made it real," he wouldn't have to dance so much and look like a fool. But he keeps doubling down on a timeline that doesn't work. He knows he screwed up when he had both Ray and Janay together, and too easily accepted their joint rug-sweeping. He didn't want to see that second video. If he just admitted that two weeks ago, this would have been a much easier presser.

As for the rest of it, he did fine. It's not like he hit anyone. We're not that far removed from a culture that allowed Jerry Sandusky. We all know stories from college days about athletes who committed a serious crime, but the athletic department helped keep the guy out of jail. It sounds like the NFL will help lead this transition. That's great.

One thing I disagree with some of this: A lot of people, including Herm Edwards and Polian, were saying that the league needs to do a better job of showing these men how to be proffesionals. While I agree the punishments should be stiffer, but why is it the NFL's job to teach people that things like domestic abuse are wrong? I think it ignores a bigger problem, that domestic abuse is a problem that exists widely beyond athletes, and how society in general needs to do a better job educating all people about domestic abuse. If you are a young man in the your mid-20s and you don't think domestic abuse is a big issue, then I think the blame for that ignorance should go far beyond just the NFL for not educating this person.

Rachel Nichols is on CNN saying that Atlantic City Police and DA have no records demonstrating that the NFL ever asked them for the Ray Rice tape.

Sorry, CNN no ESPN.

The players should organize some kind of boycott type thing. Don't talk to press after games or something.

So either the NFL is lying or the AC Police are lying.

Don't get me wrong, the police in AC are fucking scumbags (big time) but somehow I don't think this was on them.

Though I am trying to think of how this jives with the AP report of someone from the NFL receiving the tape. How did she get it?
