How will the locker room deal with this kind of distraction?

Hearing chatter that Dana White is pushing hard to sponsor Rice and Solange Knowles taking a ride to the top of the Freedom Tower next spring.

While I know that separating it out as "those guys" belittles the issue, I wish Myra Kraft were still alive, though I doubt she'd comment publicly. I'd really like to think this garbage wouldn't be tolerated, much less brushed aside / treated this way if it occurred with a player on the team I root for. But who knows if the player were good enough (Roethlisberger).

I do think that Rice would have been in much greater danger of being cut if doing so wouldn't essentially destroy the Ravens' cap with dead money. If Over the Cap is right, cutting him now would cost them $5.5m against the cap (which means they'd probably have to cut someone else too), and they wouldn't save any money next year either. That team has some garbage, uncuttable, contracts.

Sports Talk Radio shares SoSH's opinion. So even idiots think Ray Rice is a douche. The wife's apology should be a huge story. It's awful.

NFL source says Ray Rice faces multi-game suspension likely, the source says, "an extremely significant one."

I believe it was Mort this morning that said the league has seen the video from inside the elevator (that the public hasn't seen) and that is why the suspension could be so lengthy. It apparently shows his wife hitting him, and instead of Rice restraining her, he hits her twice and her head bangs off the wall/metal railing knocking her out.

Wonder if that means more then 4 games

You don't lose if you get knocked down. You only lose if you don't get up.

Was this him ripping on his wife?

I choose to think that when he was being interviewed by police that he complained that he physical, she finesse.

With Ray in to pre-trial diversion, we won't be seeing that video, likely ever. Roger is good at deep-sixing vdeos that are awkward and inconvenient.

I think Spygate was overblown, but Jesus Christ Goddell indisputably ordered the tapes turned over by the Pats destroyed and publicly stated "it was the right thing to do." I happen to concur. But to think there was not a PR aspect to that decision -- that those tapes were not awkward and inconvenient for the League -- is hopeless naive.

Does Goodell have any control over the video in this case? Or the pre-trial diversion?
I would imagine not. But the state likely won't release it with this disposition, and one can imagine contacts made to the hotel. Protect the Shield.

If the video were to get out, things could get really ugly really fast. It's one thing to know something, quite another to hear or see it. See Donald Sterling.
