The Slums of Shaolin
Demo dropped for XBOX One this morning, and supposedly will come to PS4 either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Ultimate team looks the same as always.  I'll spend wayyyyy too much money on it and enjoy every second.  This year you can get loan players (players whose contract you won't be able to renew), and with my preorder I get Messi for 15 games.  Not sure if I can sell him or not (I doubt it since its a "loan").  They took out the heading attribute as one of the main 6 and added a physicality one instead.

The top 50 player ratings have come out as well as some others.  FUTHEAD.com is the best FUT website there is and they've started updating their database for FIFA 15.

Here are the top 50 player ratings:

http://www.easports.com/fifa/news/2014/fifa-15-player-ratings-top-50

I can't believe Ibra has been downgraded to 4 stars.  Vidal and Di Maria look a little too low as well.

I know FIFA is a global game, but I would really like the game to be released around the start of the Premier League season.

Late September makes no sense, they don't release any other sports games after the season starts and I don't think there is a single league that has not started their season yet.

Hopefully the 360 version doesn't suck, I played UT as seriously as I ever have and really liked it, though not to the level of spending any actual money on it.

You people are the reason UT advertisements have infected the entire game. "Stop playing Career Mode - go blow some money on Ultimate Team!!" Ugh.

I'm ready for a new FIFA. My dreams of winning the Champions League with AZ Alkmaar don't look like they're going to come true (got to the semis though), so it's time to start fresh.

If they don't wait until the transfer window closes, the rosters will instantly be out of date.

FUT is life son. Seriously, you don't actually have to blow any money. Money (if spent on EA approved packs) gets you dick. And supposedly they're cracking down on coin-trading this year, which should make it easier to be an honest player. Full disclosure though, I financed my dopest squad in 14 with 300k in coins that I bought from ufifa for the lofty sum of $3.

Supposedly they've gotten rid of some of the peskier links in FUT formations, including the LM/RM-CB link in the 41212, which I'm completely in favor of. I'd rather play a hybrid any day than the 5 millionth generic Bundesliga squad.

This fucking guy right here though:

At this point I think I just need to buy his shirt. Massive upgrade to an already awesome FUT player that you never have to worry about facing because everyone is too lazy to build a squad around him. Now if only Toure could go back to being 15k.

I've heard pace is easier to abuse this year, and truth be told I don't care that much as long as heading is nerfed. I've completely given myself over to the sweaty side. I'm gonna miss my TOTS MLS squad so much.

The lack of demo on PSN right now is agitating.

No Luis, you wont. I think you can carry over coins though so you may want to put everyone in auction.

Fairly sure none of it transfers which is why the market is always wrecked the first few weeks

They're slacking, but if you really want to play it you can apparently create a European PSN account and get it through that

It finally hit PSN tonight. Graphically, it is better. Gameplay-wise I don't see/feel a difference.

Isn't that largely a good thing, though? FIFA is a finely tuned machine at this point. I don't know if I would be in favor of any type of drastic changes. Once a game gets that polished, it's hard to make every year feel like a different game.

I like this game a lot, here are a few observations:

1. I feel like the handling is much tighter
2. The goalie is much better, but gives up a rebound, constantly.
3. The yellow/red cards come out much quicker.
4. No matter what I would do, my opponent would score an '89 minute goal,no more it seems.

Are you going to thank me? I was the one who shared with you all the wonder that is Doumbia. Doumbia is god. I've done things with Doumbia that Messi can only dream of.

The rosters are already out of date. Also, nothing a patch can't fix for that. Yeah, this a demo, but EA has been terrible this year with their sports games and I'm having a hard time trusting them after the NHL debacle. For the first time, this isn't a day one buy for me. I've grown tired of the same mindless defenders and non-existent midfield play/buildup.

Do you play online or against AI? I don't play online much, but when it comes to AI, I have to strongly disagree about non-existent midfield play. In fact, I found that improving my ability to build from the back and resisting the urge to always try and run out on the counter made me a better player. If you're talking about online, I'm not sure it's the game's fault. People play the way they like to play.

I'm talking AI for now. I've played 5 games so far and my midfield doesn't hold its shape and it is immediate death to your team in this year's demo, especially as the cpu now has players who make intelligent runs into the box. The back 4 is nightmare and they take bizarre routes to the ball carrier or just stand still at times. Full backs do absolutely nothing when the ball is away from their zone as well. Now, I'm hoping this gets fixed when the full game is released or you can tweak the sliders a bit of course. Love the animations and the details on the stadiums and supporter chants, but the gameplay matters to me the most.

Weird, will have to check it out. Just saw an ad for a free celebrations DLC if you pre-order from Gamestop. That shit pisses me off. As a FIFA diehard, there's no option other than digital. Switching discs for a staple like FIFA is totally out of the question. Where are my free celebrations, dammit?

The passing and runs from the AI are very much improved, at least on World Class.

I've been using him since at least 13, Ivory Coast always produces FIFA legends.

The gameplay is way different. Dribbling is tighter, pace and finesse shots are back big. Power shot nerfed as hell, feels a lot like 12 and 13. Lots of shanks. Crossing feels nerfed as well, but you don't really get a feel for exploits until you're actually playing the 12 year olds. I hope they've fixed defending so that CB's don't get completely paralyzed by L1+triangle.

We talked about it in one of these FIFA threads - I declared my love for Doumbia and at least one person replied that they'd since tried him out and vouched for his dominance. I thought it was you but maybe you just chimed in as having used him too. I fucking love Seydou Doumbia.

As for FIFA 15, I've been playing the demo and liking a lot of the changes I'm noticing, but have been struggling with the gameplay. Then I realized that the demo is set to have Auto Switching turned on, and I'm accustomed to having it set to Air Balls only. Makes a huge difference.

I'm liking the demo.  The players can't cut as easy as they used to unless their dribbling stats are high, which is nice...should lead to a more realistic game play.

I'm liking everything now that I've turned off auto switching, except my finishing ability has vanished. I'm routinely failing to put away chances that I normally finish virtually every time. I really just need a practice mode to shoot around a bit, but can't really do that yet. As for auto switching, I don't understand how anyone could play like that. I had more difficulty predicting who the computer would switch me to than I did actually defending whoever had the ball.

First attempt

Probably gonna have to settle for cheaper CB's initially but they're more of a placeholder, I'm really mostly concerned with trying to get Emeneke and Doumbia to link up without having to play Musa at CAM

The Slums of Shaolin
Turrable you on PS4 or XBOXONE?  If you're on PS4, friend me.  ZompFoShomp...would love to play.

I played from 5pm until 11pm with 4 friends last night (though it still bothers me that the max multiplayer on PS4 is 4 players).  Some thoughts:

1.  Its FIFA 14 with some tweaking, which isn't a bad thing.  It feels realistic enough.  One thing that I do like is the attackers feel a lot more pacey while the defenders are strong on the ball.  I used to hate when a defender could catch up to an attacker with the ball (especially someone like Terry vs, say, Ronaldo) but now it seems as if you can really feel the ratings with each player.

2.  I'm not sure I'll like the Ultimate Team loan system, but I do have Ronaldo for 2 matches and Messi for 5 so whatevs.

3.  The Premier League presentation is gorgeous.  They have real referees (Mike Dean did my first game) and the stadiums are beautiful.

4.  Again, with the ratings, you can really feel it with the players this year.  One game we played Attletico Madrid vs Roma and it was a lot of fun.  Sometimes the possession was sloppy, or players overran a pass.  The very next game we did Bayern vs Real Madrid and it was like playing a different game.  The movement was SO fast, the passing crisp, and the shots were pulled a lot quicker.

5.  Keepers and defensive AI seem better this year.  Chipping a keeper is HARD, and the shooting system seems to be improved.  Good strikers like Costa, Hulk, Balotelli, etc... have a quicker release with their shots.

6.  I haven't started buying packs yet for Ultimate Team but I'm pretty excited for it.  I will say this, after playing roughly 20 games last night, my first buy will be Paul Pogba.

I cannot fucking score in this game. It's now in my head but all the same I'm either hitting it at the keeper or wide. Every time. Keepers are DEFINITELY better...I'm seeing way more diving saves than I ever have. Think I'll need to start using finesse shots cause this just isn't working.

Friend request sent. I'm playing at Sir_Uncle_Ruckus this year (roommate's ps4). Any other ps4 guys in here? We should think about putting a pro clubs squad together, I've never tried it.

Regular shot is dead this year, it's finesse or nothing. Power shots get shanked or saved every time. Dribbling is also way more important, I really need to learn control dribbling with the shoulder buttons.

Is anyone else having trouble signing in to the EA server from Xbox One? I can't get in and it's kind of driving me crazy.

Count me among those who can't score either. I can't believe how frequently I hit the post. And if I try a finesse shot, I end up airmailing it.

Yup, this is what I've learned. It's a painful thing for me as I'm a regular shot master and have always struggled to make myself do finesse. No choice anymore - adjust or die. Oh well. I do think the constant diving saves on regular shots are a bit much. I mean, EVERY keeper is doing it and it doesn't matter how good a shot it is. It's almost impossible to score without finesse.

I'm nyy913 on PS4.

Yeah the thing is dribbling was such a pain in 14 that the best approach was often to just have a blast from outside the box, but now the way to do it is to dribble and pass your way into the box for a finesse shot. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, and it makes the blasts that you do convert more satisfying because they're so tough to pull off.

Needed a win for the d8 championship, came up against a guy with Messi, beat him 6-3, game ends, in the menu, "you have lost connection to the ea servers," sign back in, "it seems that you disconnected from your last match."

Same shit different year thanks ea

Not that it's that big a deal, but it has always bothered me that they charge the same price. The hard copy gives u a disk, a case and a manual. How much does that cost? Even if it cost 10 cents, make the digital price 59.89 as opposed to 59.99 for a hard copy. That would maybe make me buy it digitally(Probably not unless it was a larger difference, but at least try). If they are the same price I want the hard copy so I can lend it to a friend/play at a friends house or sell it. Give me an incentive to buy digitally. This is assuming you are using a console system not a computer. I know nothing of computer gaming as my computer is weaker than my phone.

As good as ever. You can set multiple team sheets and easily switch between them if you have a cup game or something like that. The Global Transfer Network seems much easier to deal with this year than last (which is good, because you can't turn it off anymore).
