Anybody else think JMOH seems a little too happy for only cutting out sports talk radio? It looks to me like there could be *COUGH* something else going on *COUGH* to make him that happy. He just seems like a different person.

I also started doing meth around the same time, but I'm sure that's a coincidence.

What a lazy asshat.

Felger does it too.

I didn't see these accusations on JBJ but I guess this is just what the show does now: smear people without evidence. I sort of hope Felger gets caught cheating on his taxes or something.

I haven't listened to these guys (actually sports radio in general) in over a month and I have to say, I love it. I really, really love it. It really is a great, fucking thing not to have to deal with the constant negativity of what's supposed to be a pastime, something that I enjoy, something that is supposed to be relaxing. I like watching the Sox win two out of three from the Mets and seeing young, exciting ballplayers play well without hearing on Monday that the happiness I experienced wasn't worth it (THEY SUCK, MIKE) or completely baseless allegations that one of the players I like is popping PEDs (SOMETHING'S DIFFERENT WITH HIM).

It took a few days to get them out of my system but after about a week or so I genuinely don't give a fuck about what Michael Felger or Tony Massarotti or any of them think about Deflategate, Dombrowski, JBJ, the Bruins, Danny Ainge, none of it.

And it's freeing, man. Absolutely freeing. I kind of feel like a kid again.
It's all about picking your spots, I've said this before and I know I'm beating a dead horse, but these guys are what they are and by now everyone should generally know what to expect and many hear should save the outrage and listen or do something else.  I knew yesterday would be a bad day to listen to the show because it would be full of crap.  It's possible I missed out on a good show but I'm OK with that.

Other days I have a short leash for their bullshit and will change the station as soon as I hear the first "Cough" meaning someone was on something and others I'm willing to at least see what point they are trying to make even if I don't agree with it.

Does now?  Sorry Chonce but this has been Felger's schtick from the beginning.  He thinks almost every single ball player is on something, especially when they come up from the minors or have a year where they improved over the last.  At the same time, he doesn't care if they are on something but he knows he's tweaking the audience by doing it.

Felger said Nats and then asked if the Dodgers were in or out of the playoffs (He ended up deciding it was one of the two). Mazz sounded out of it when Felger asked him for his opinion. I still can't get over how checked out Mazz is on baseball when he's working with Felger, but he was great on MLB Network guest hosting Chris Russo's show.

I recognize Felger has been "coughing" about steroid use for years. But I am just connecting this to the more recent issue with Brady and Felger and Mazz insistence that any human with common sense knows they are guilty, despite a lack of evidence.

Yes, they have been coughing for years, but now they devote 80 percent of the show to "smearing people without evidence' not just the subtle coughs about steroids.

What's wrong with the Nats pick? Washington is one game over .500 and probably won't make the post season.

The Dodgers? That's a reach, but I guess you can make the argument that they should be better.

Mazz will be hanging his hat on the NFL winning on appeal.
My hunch is that Mazz will trumpet the "Berman did not rule on the facts so the evidence still points to the balls being deflated and people will still call Brady a cheater."
Felger will likely say that it doesn't matter since Brady will be on the field and won't even be fined... the NFL is to blame if only because they could have extracted some punishment if they would have negotiated.

Caller now breaking down the last six months of Felger and Mazz's arguments point by point. This is pretty fun.

Mazz: "We don't need to relive that part of it." (re: Whether or not Brady is actually guilty)

No mention of the coach yet, much to my surprise.

I'm not, if the NFL had something and he was being protected they would have played that card.  F&M knows there's nothing there.

(Now watch them open the next segment with it)

I will say, this whole open the floodgates with the callers busting their balls is great but i get the feeling that tomorrow will be a "new day" and they won't entertain any DF talk at all. All that is to say, if you want to get your shots in on them about this mess, do so in the next 2 hours because i bet that'll be your only real shot

Some great callers today. I forgot Mazz had said (paraphrase): "The NFL has smart lawyers too and they have learned a lot from all those losses."

Got to give them credit, no other show would do this for a segment let alone a whole day.

Edit: That's not what I said /Ordway

Yep. Felger's a professional troll but his willingness to open the phone lines and take his medicine on days like today is why he's the best radio personality in this market. HB is correct - no other show would do this. Credit where credit is due.

Not for nothing, but Francesa was a similarly good sport the day after Game 7 in '04. He let Red Sox fans call up and bash his brains in. He also shut down Yankee fans that tried to call in and play the "26 rings" card.

That was a long time ago and a much better show, needless to say.

It was so long ago, that it was only 25 rings

Listened today(to yesterdays show via podcast) for the first time since whenever Greg Bedards last appearance was. Had hoped to listen to Bedards two hours on the show. Made it 7 minutes before giving up after hearing Felger squealing about ESPN and the NFL finally hitting back at the Patriots after the Patriots have been on a full on assault vs ESPN/NFL.

Yeah, no thanks. Didn't bother with the rest of the show.

Had hoped Bedard would've signed on with any other show for this season since I think his analysis is among the best in the business. Don't know if I'll be able to stomach the two ghouls he's on with to be able to enjoy listening.

Marshall Hook was a real cunt about Ortiz's 500 homerun on Twitter last night.

Maybe he'll just retire now that the only thing he cares about anymore is done.

Such a "team leader" move making sure your official website is selling memorabilia before the game is even over. http://www.bigpapishop.com

Some folks seem to get really angry when you don't like the same baseball players they do.

For everyone in love with Hook, his two takes today:

1. David Ortiz now needs to be cut or retire.

2. The Patriots will lose by 13 points.  Why? Because what went wrong for the Steelers will go right for the Bills.

Now I have no issue with saying the Bills will win, it could happen because it's always close with Rex, but give me more than that for why they will lose by 13.

You know what, even before his little Ortiz bitch fest, I thought that Marshall Hook sucked.

He's an asshole who makes his living reading scores. Basically, he's a male version of Siri except he's programmed by Michael Felger, so he's even more useless.

I liked him as someone to push back against Felger which I think he does more effectively than Murray ever has.
He is completely unhinged on Ortiz though, his position makes no sense at all.

It's Tanguayesque just taking a contrary position and saying it louder than anyone else no matter how stupid the point is.

That's always been my point about Hook, like JMOH I have never liked him  however I did warm up to him because he was extremely logical against Mazz and was frustrating the shit out of him.  I think he's fine in small doses when he's in the 4th or 5th seat in the background but he doesn't hold up over the long term and especially not in the 2nd or 3rd chair.

His argument that the Patriots barely escaped against Pittsburgh because the only won by "one score" due to a garbage time touchdown in the final seconds was assinine.

Felger and Mazz: Gronk and Edelman are unstoppable. Then add in Lafell and Lewis, forget it. Unstoppable.

Brady's playing chess, everyone is playing checkers. Unreal pre-snap. Patriots going scorched earth.

I'm uncomfortable.

Those Hook how takes were interesting. You have to wonder if they have meeting where they assign "contrarian hot takes" to everyone to stir up shit. I haven't checked Hook's response to the Patriots domination of the Bill's defense, but  I am glad he will have to eat some crow.

I don't get this nonsense from Felger that Brady keeping care of his body doesn't have an effect on his longevity.  This is coming from the guy that presses his own cucumbers for his salads (according to his wife) and that wipes down his entire studio in Clorox before every show.

The very first ad after this segment was Felger reading for a company that he says he uses for portioned healthy meals.  Too funny.

Eh, he has a point when he points to Brett Favre at age 40 living off of Oxy, Southern Comfort and Nachos or something.

He also gave Brady credit for being a smart player and that Brady acknowledged that it helps that he's been lucky not to take many big hits lately.

That was followed by Mazz disagreeing with Felger saying that while doesn't think it has a lot to do with it, it definitely helps his ability to take a few hits and recover quicker.    This was also in the 5 o'clock hour and I know their opinions get less harsh and more flushed out as the show goes along.

Don't bother tuning into today boys and girls - Mazz is kicking off the show at being outraged at fans for being excited that the Pats are 3-0. Mazz truly is dog shit.

So fans shouldn't be happy that the team is doing well or is it that we should be so accustomed to winning and success as to be unimpressed by it?

Caller is tearing them apart and the producer Jimmy Stewart is actually defending the caller. Paraphrasing:

Caller: "Mike, you guys started the undefeated talk last week and now you're bashing us and yelling 'Pump the brakes!'?"
F & M: "WHEN DID WE SAY THAT?"
Stewart: "Last week. 2pm Tuesday w/Greg Bedard. We did that."

Same Caller: "And where's Chris Simms? Brady is the 7th or 8th rated QB? Rated below Tony Romo?"
Felger: "Chris Simms? When did he say that? I don't even know who he works for currently."
Stewart, not being sarcastic: "Us. CBS Sports. We had him on this year. This caller is spot-on."
Caller: "I'M SPOT ON!"

Alright I'm getting back to work but that was delightful.

Felger is so full of shit.  A caller talked about going undefeated, to which Mazz immediately told him to settle down. Felger, though, said he didn't think it was a big deal to talk about it.  He wouldn't say for sure that it would happen, but didn't think it was out of line to talk about the possibility.
