the only thing I can thnk of is if they fire him they are afraid of a race lawsuit from wiggy. I can't come up with anything else.
I know exactly why:ratings. I have a contact at the station and asked about Wiggy Wednesday. Believe it or not, the show gets good ratings when he's on.It looks like he'll be around until that changes.the only thing I can thnk of is if they fire him they are afraid of a race lawsuit from wiggy. You're insane. That was pretty much the most interesting thing about the entire game on Thursday. It's the second preseason game in Tampa, in which the Patriots are blowing out the Bucs. What do you want him to talk about?Zolack isn't funny. When he's on the sideline at games and he's giving good breakdowns, he's fantastic. When he talks about unicorns and show ponies, he's a moron.
Did you watch the game? What do I want him to talk about? Zolack was discussing the Wam blockers, the outside LB duty on certain plays, etc. He was fantastic. I think all of that stuff is infinitely more fascinating then werewolves, unicorns and show ponies. Just because it's a preseason game doesn't mean you can't learn something. If that stuff doesn't interest you, fine. Enjoy your Randy Cross commentary. You're insane. That was pretty much the most interesting thing about the entire game on Thursday. Admit it, when you were a kid you really looked forward to your school's annual trip to the box factory, didn't you?
Yes I think you made a goozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzDid you watch the game? What do I want him to talk about? Hey, not a problem. Narcolepsy is serious, I wouldn't get mad at you for it.Yes I think you made a goozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Whoa. Sorry about that. Fell asleep for a bit.
What were you saying?
I forget which day this week but Felger asked Wiggy a question about Ochos adjustment to this offense and he tried to answer it by getting into some X an O stuff. Felger let him go for a little bit but chimed in and said he didnt think that XandO talked made for good radio. I dont think they should try reading from a playbook, but speaking intelligently about adjustments, scheme, etc seems like very interesting stuff to me and would keep them at a higher intelligence level than the BigShow. Its very unfortunate they dont get into this stuff a little bit more.
I know most got this but it was an inside joke from the previous morning on T&R when Dan Roche was on. Roche brought those up around 6:05 and was razzed about it the entire morning. You may have also caught Zolak's reference inside joke about Fred's paddleboard exploits from a couple weeks back. Criqui brought up the fact that Mesko speaks 4 languages. Zolak said something about how people who speak 4 languages cruise around on paddleboards.
It's not humor you'll find in New Yorker magazine, but it's a funny hat tip to friends of 98.5.
I'm sure you became a moderator because you were good at something. Unless you're a mod because you're good at trolling and flaming. No, no I was saying that you made a really good poizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
But you're right, explaining the intricacies of the two-gap using guys who will be working for FedEx in three weeks is absolutely fascinating stuff. You must be an absolute blast to hang out with. Especially when Zolak made that reference a grand total of once in a three-hour game. Way to get your panties in a twist over nothing.
You are absolutely adorable.Good stuff man. Still, you're absolutely right. I'm boring. I apologize. I'll spend more time off SoSH and do the best I can to spare the board my boring drivel from now on. You should do the same. Hit up some comedy clubs or something. If you're going to try to be funny, then maybe you can actually learn some funny stuff.
Mazz played the audio of that, and somehow used it as evidence that it was ownership that pushed for it.Of course, Werner was on Baseball Reporters with CHB while Mazz was on vacation and said that Theo was the one pushing for Crawford the whole time. Even if Mazz was the one doing the interview, I bet he'd stick to this script, though.
Tony and Vulgar will be absolutely giddy about the Patriots' season being already lost. Tony's squeaky little voice will lead one to believe that he's pleasuring himself...well, maybe?"A strikeout is more important than any other out."
--Tony Mazz
He's so wrong it's silly.
Heidi asked him the same question during the rain delay over the weekend and he gave the exact same response. Embarrassing. He thinks winning the division is very, very important because "ummm...well...you know...the division...it's a uhhh...you know...uhh....big deal to win that."
I made it through 10 minutes. And then wiggy tried to make a point that I already can't remember except he had all the facts and scores wrong and I changed to weei. Deossie with Holley and Ordway sounds pretty good after that!Wiggy Wednesday's now move to Tuesday.
Literally everything he said in the first 20 minutes was objectively wrong. Blatantly and factually incorrect. Felger and Mazz were both arguing circles around him, and they were defending the Pats and saying positive things! It was pretty cringe inducing.I made it through 10 minutes. Him and Felger went with the "we must blame the guys that aren't playing and aren't really hurt" angle, targeting Beckett, Drew (although they said the team didn't really need him) and, to a lesser extent, Bedard. So let's put together Mazz' riff ... the "lazy" theme is untenable in light of the injuries, and "cheap" doesn't work either cause they sprung for Bedard.
My guess -- everything comes back to Tex. Had they spent the money on him, it wouldn't have been burning a hole in their pocket for the unwise Lackey signing. We wouldn't have Adrian, but his money could then have been steered to a productive pitcher, and we might have the players sent to S.D. to boot.
Is the causation chain too attentuated and speculative? For me, yes, but ...
I didn't listen yesterday (I won't listen to them talk baseball generally), so I'm a bit confused. Did they really suggest Beckett, Drew, and Bedard are not injured? Odd.Him and Felger went with the "we must blame the guys that aren't playing and aren't really hurt" angle, targeting Beckett, Drew (although they said the team didn't really need him) and, to a lesser extent, Bedard.
I didn't see it until after I posted, but Mazz -- who typically is more reasonable in print -- actually wrote a column that injuries are no excuse, essentially because the RS were pre-season WS favorites.Him and Felger went with the "we must blame the guys that aren't playing and aren't really hurt" angle, targeting Beckett, Drew (although they said the team didn't really need him) and, to a lesser extent, Bedard.
It was more along the lines of, if the organization really thought they were not going to make the playoffs, then guys like Beckett and Bedard would be available to pitch and that they were being cautious instead of nursing minor aches and pains.I didn't listen yesterday (I won't listen to them talk baseball generally), so I'm a bit confused. Did they really suggest Beckett, Drew, and Bedard are not injured? Odd.
I think you just made Felger's point. If the season was on the line, like it is in the playoffs, he'd be pitching. Their point was that since the Red Sox as an organization don't really believe that they won't make the playoffs, guys like Beckett and Bedard, are able to rest.Come on Brew, Felger is full of shit. Beckett did pitch injured as recently as the 2008 ALCS, and it was clear he wasn't in top form. Yet he still gutted out a win in Game 6. And in what way is Beckett's ankle injury "minor"? He sprained it pretty good. You probably don't want a pitcher trying to perform with a bad wheel.
Felger is just yanking your chain. I'm not sure that Beckett was capable of pitching at all in the immediate aftermath of the ankle injury. Keep in mind that the playoff injury in '08 was a lat, a different type of problem.I think you just made Felger's point. If the season was on the line, like it is in the playoffs, he'd be pitching. Now I don't listen to 4 hours of Felger and Mazz, but during the segment that I heard, they weren't placing all the blame on Beckett and Bedard. They were blaming it on a malaise that this team seems to go through when they feel that they have the playoffs wrapped up.
edit: As for the other stuff, I don't like Beckett, so anything negative that Felger has to say about it, I'm likely to agree with.
In retrospect, isn't that really what this latest stretch, this entire season, has been about? The Red Sox take the playoffs for granted now, as if the regular season is a necessary evil. They spent the winter tossing around money like a crew of drunken sailors, then showed up for work expecting everything to take care of itself. Then the Sox came out and went 2-10 to start the season, a downright embarrassing beginning that sounded alarms and immediately revealed the potentially fatal flaw in this club. The Sox know how good they are.
And as a result, they are far too willing to go on auto pilot and coast.
We'd be pretty fucked without Beckett this year.edit: As for the other stuff, I don't like Beckett, so anything negative that Felger has to say about it, I'm likely to agree with.
The way they have been playing, they could be awfully short even if he is there.I don't care if some fans don't like Beckett for some psuedo-reason; the playoffs will be awfully short if he ain't there.
