Different situation -- he was an RFA and signed an offer sheet that he was reasonably sure Utah would match. At most, that shows he was willing to leave Utah if they weren't willing to pay him fairly; no one thinks that will be an issue this time around.Hayward signed a contract with Charlotte in 2014. Utah matched but it showed he was willing to leave.
Hayward had a hell of a year -- I'd rate him ahead of both of those guys. But Butler plays in Chicago, and George used to be a top-10 guy, so you might be right about how the actual vote will go.Haywards is not making the 3rd team. Lebron, Kawhi, Durant, Giannis, and Green are absolute locks. And I can't see Hayward making it over both Butler or George
I think the story goes that he asked Utah for the max, they balked. He went out and got a couple max offers (almost got one from CLE until GM Lebron had them trade for Love), then they relented. Most likely not an issue, but players ceetainly can hold grudges sometimesDifferent situation -- he was an RFA and signed an offer sheet that he was reasonably sure Utah would match. Well, Hayward had fewer pts, rebs, assts, and stls per game than either of the other two. He did have a hell of a year. This made me laugh. I don't even get that unconditional love from the mirror. We all want someone to look at us like Stevens look at Hayward.
Great post. This is the exact point why it should be draft Fultz or bust.No. Fultz is younger and cheaper than Butler and will be under contract longer. Also, Fultz fits what this team needs: size and length at guard while providing big-time scoring at all 3 levels.
This is where I am. I just don't get people wanting to give up #1 plus for Butler. Why would anyone want Butler after playing them in round 1? He did not look like a championship difference maker, which is what you need if you're dealing #1, let alone #1 +. Not to mention the knock on effects of not drafting a potential franchise PG & the extra salary you're taking on that prevents you from getting a top FA this year or next.
