#DFG: Canceling the Noise

Is there any level of suspension that you would advise Tom to accept?

Rewatching BB's 2nd conference about deflategate. I truly don't understand how the NFL can absolutely accept a flawed Wells Report and ignore BB's and Tom Brady's statement that was under oath. This is a billion dollar company. How the fuck are they so stupid?

Honest question: are you joking?

There is no way, in a million years, that the NFL and Roger Goodell were going to let Bill Belichick (of all fucking people) get the best of them on anything, even if he was 100% correct.

DURHAM, N.H. (CBS) – “Why does it matter that a football might be 12.2?”
“Why is there even debate about football air pressure?”
“What’s the Ideal Gas Law?”
These were just a few of the questions University of New Hampshire Law School Prof. Michael McCann threw out to the 60 students in attendance at the inaugural class...

If those kids want to blow any portion of the $40,000 a year they spend on UNH Law talking about this shit, the joke's on them.

Not to pile on Theo because he contributes a lot here, he's a great poster and he gets his balls busted enough, but his "sources" are about as reliable as Sharks of Vegas. There's been at least a dozen times he's cited "inside sources" in this and it's delivered bubkis.

And Theo, not trying to dump on you. You've added positive content to the legal side in this. But your sources suck, dude.

This just means that he is due.  During every single August my mother tells me that for reason X or Y or Z that Rhode Island is going to get a Hurricane that fall. Eventually she turns out to be correct.

This is Theo's hurricane.

I'm not aware of any evidence that Goodell, or the NFL for the matter, are good at anything other than extracting compensation out of a captive audience.

Katie Nolan still could very well be a lunatic.

A hot, lovable, one, but still.

Tenterhooks. As bad, and maybe worse, than if I were a lawyer in this case.

And it's beyond football for me at this point. It's more about guy level right and wrong.

I came in a bit early, finished up the last outstanding things on my desk and all I'm doing is waiting.

But, word to the wise, I have to leave at 3 for my daughter's open house. That's when this thing will drop.

My company's filter blocks SOSH. And there's no LTE signal strength in my office. This is my third stint today sitting in my car checking this forum.

Can't someone just send Roger Goodell to the depths of Hell!

I may be kidding.

Send Rev your email monicker and let him text you. That will distract him from deleting posts.

So how many cocktails between wheels up and down? Or do you want clear mind when your cell goes on and you refresh and start looking for a new thread?

If Berman had a sense of the dramatic, he'd release the decision around 8PM tonight and we could watch live reactions from the Pats-Giant game.
Cant you just envision both teams lined up for kickoff, loud music suddenly blasts out over the PA system, and Berman comes out of the runway doing the Fargo strut.

(pleasepleaseplease:  someone mock up a gif of VKM strutting, with Berman's face superimposed-ed over it)

It's firm policy to book wifi-enabled flights. They need me SoSH accessible at all times.

Denver, only physically
1. As regards Katie Nolan, definitely would welcome into my huddle if I were less old (or more wealthy), less married, and less religious.

2. As regards Theo's "prognostications":
     a. He is only reporting that which he has heard, so I probably wouldn't deem it a prognostication.
     b. It probably is generally the less sound choice to go public on predictions having a 50% chance.  If Judge Berman pseudo-committed that he'd promulgate by the end of the work-week, and if Wednesday has passed, then it's ceteris paribus a 50% shot for Thursday and the same for Friday.  ...same reason as to not openly predict upcoming-baby gender.  When you're right on a 50% prediction, no one will think you're hot stuff, and if you're wrong, everyone will be on your case.

3. If I worked for a company whose Internet filtering filtered out SoSH, I'd suggest the alternative that SoSH be de-filtered - however, the employee would not be allowed to log in and thus become capable of availing himself of P&G, the home of NSFW material.  I don't view profanity per se to be NSFW, but we really don't find that much effing profanity here.

4. If I were less mind-rusty, I'd compose a post about the difference between justice, which involves following the law whatever it may be, and fairness, which involves restoring Brady's good name presuming that he is as innocent as he has asserted and as I believe.  I think a man as accomplished as Judge Berman can write an opinion which sells the fair verdict as also being the just verdict (in the pathetic case that the just verdict would actually be that Goodell can do all the malice he wants under the current CBA).

Only ~$26K in state. The real joke is the out of staters paying the $40K.

I'm not sure what the credits apply to but if they can be applied to Gen. Ed. credits I'd rather take this than some of the other classes that (at least in the old days) fulfill those credits like Foods & Dudes or Soils.

The crowd tonight at the Razor will be off the hook if the Berman decision is released during the day today. Either way the decision went, beer sales and crowd noise would be way up from the norm for a PS game, folks would either be really pissed or elated.

Imagine if the NFL had soccer-style singing crowds.  "No one likes us / we don't care" would sound nice at Foxboro.

The way to get around this is to make mutually exclusive predictions on both sides of the coin flip.

Uh, right?

I don't think they'd really have any more insight than anyone else. Their track record isn't the best.

EDIT: Though I guess that doesn't really answer your question.

I know me.  I think it's coming today.  But if it doesn't, the thought that it will give some of my friends here giggles is a nice one.

I actually hope from a tea leaves perspective, however, that the decision gets released tomorrow.  At the margin, I think today is worse in that  it leaves Friday for a hearing on a request for an injunction by the NFLPA/Brady.
