Concerning Schilling....

I hate seeing Schilling's name littered throughout the Wakefield thread. As an alternative for those needing to vent perhaps this thread can be used as that outlet and the Wake thread can be left for positive thoughts, good wishes and personal stories about the man that so many here admire. This may be a big ask, but it would be great if folks seeing this might consider editing previous posts in the Wake thread to help the cause and perhaps the thread title might be changed to reflect this.

Personally, I started following the Red Sox as a snot-nosed kid in the mid 90's. Tim Wakefield was on the very first teams that I watched as an elementary school kid. He pitched for the Red Sox until my last year of college.

To me, Wakefield WAS the Red Sox. There for the ups and downs, highs and lows. From the '99 playoff run to the 2003 devastating walkoff, to pitching important innings in multiple World Series runs. He took the ball, did his job, and put the team first. By all accounts, a true professional and excellent teammate.

The man played a big role for me, as I grew as a baseball fan and a person. He will always remind me of simpler times, watching games with my dad, and going to the '04 parade with my friends (high school freshmen with no parental supervision).

I am keeping him in my mind and prayers.

I know that was real blood, but I think his soul leaked out with it.
