I hate it. Not sure this would be proposed if the last 3 natonal champions in Yale, Union and Providence had not won.
To be honest I haven't been able to watch them play this year. Judging by what I've read they are definitely still a defensive-minded team. Schafer has been there for a while too, so the coaching philosophy shouldn't have changed too much.Is Cornell still playing the same style of hockey they were a handful of years ago when they were quite good? They were all about packing the house and big, rough players.
Great road win for NU last night. You're boys are really on a roll. ND probably felt pretty good going into the tourney playing at home against the 6th seed. Too bad for them they drew the hottest team in college hockey. What a hell of a ride. NU was 1-11-2 at one point. After two OT wins over Maine this weekend, they're on to the quarterfinals against Notre Dame.
They are 16-1-2 in their last 19. No that isn't a typo. They may not get past Notre Dame but this team has been so much fun to watch since Christmas.
This is starting to reach a surreal level. They're up to 15th in the Pairwise. One more win might be enough.Great road win for NU last night. You're boys are really on a roll. I am a Bruins and Michigan fan, so it has been bittersweet watching Connor. Sweeney seems to have really blown it - the kid is the real deal. Fast, can snipe and will be good sized when he fills out.And a note that would make Bruins fans squeamish, Don Sweeney had three chances to draft Kyle Connor in last year's draft.
Cornell needs to win tonight to have any hope of an at-large, and probably needs to win their semi-final game as well, so hopefully they come out with the kind of intensity they showed yesterdayFrustrating loss for quinnipiac tonight against cornell. Extremely chippy game. The ice was terrible from the earlier woman's tournament game and the big red took it to us tonight. Game 3 tomorrow with hopefully better ice than tonight.
I am too, which is why I continue to bring it up. Connor is up to 30 goals.I am a Bruins and Michigan fan, so it has been bittersweet watching Connor. Sweeney seems to have really blown it - the kid is the real deal. Fast, can snipe and will be good sized when he fills out.
Cornell lost but their is still a small scenario where they can still get into the tournament.Cornell needs to win tonight to have any hope of an at-large, and probably needs to win their semi-final game as well, so hopefully they come out with the kind of intensity they showed yesterday
Michigan is a lock for the tournament. they are tied for 6th in the pairwise rankings.I don't really understand how the postseason really works, but is Michigan definitely in at this point?
Which is just an astounding result given the trainwreck that was the first half of the NU season. I was thinking I might be in "paper bag for my head" territory by the end, but they proved me wrong. Not super optimistic about tonight though.Conference championship weekend is here. NU is playing for their first championship appearance since 1988. RE: NCAA tournament, there's some jockeying that can still happen but the basic idea is if there are no surprise autobids, NU is likely in. So go Michigan, Quinnipiac, and Harvard!
