I hate it. Not sure this would be proposed if the last 3 natonal champions in Yale, Union and Providence had not won.

Well sure, it's a whiny reaction by the traditional powers...I don't like 21 year old freshman, but I also dislike BC, BU, and Minnesota fans crying because other teams found ways to recruit other than having a USNDT pipeline.

Big upsets yesterday at the Florida College Classic, Cornell took down previously undefeated #1 Providence 2-1 in OT and OSU beat #4 BC 3-2.

Cornell's only loss on the year came in OT against Quinnipiac. I know they weren't thought of very highly going into the season, but they've looked pretty good so far against some decent competition. They play Ohio State in the finals of the Florida tourney tonight.

Is Cornell still playing the same style of hockey they were a handful of years ago when they were quite good? They were all about packing the house and big, rough players.

To be honest I haven't been able to watch them play this year. Judging by what I've read they are definitely still a defensive-minded team. Schafer has been there for a while too, so the coaching philosophy shouldn't have changed too much.

Also, they followed up their huge win over PC with an 8-0 loss to Ohio State (unranked, 5-11 Ohio State) so I have no idea what to think.

It's Beanpot time again! All 4 teams are on fire right now, all carrying significant winning streaks. BC, Harvard, BU all in the top 10, and NU is 8-1-2 since Thanksgiving. This should be a hell of a tournament. Last year 3 of the 4 games went to OT and the 4th was decided with 1:30 left in the 3rd. Havard-BC at 5pm, NU-BU at 8pm Monday night.

I'm bracing myself for another heartbreaking NU loss, but damn it'd be cool to see the first ever NU-Harvard final.

Michigan beat Minnesota 6-2 last night. Freshman Kyle Connor now has 26 goals and 27 assists. He is the current NCAA leader in points. Michigan's CCM line (Connor-Compher-Motte) features the 3 top point per game players in the country. They're the reason for Michigan's record this year.

And a note that would make Bruins fans squeamish, Don Sweeney had three chances to draft Kyle Connor in last year's draft.

QU clinches ECAC regular season title with victory over Brown last night. Takes a little steam out of tonight's matchup with Yale (who had a chance to catch them if they lost), but both teams should have plenty of incentive to want to win the Heroes Hat game and further solidify their NCAA tourney status/seeding.

If season ended today, Qu and BU would likely be the 1-2 seeds in the same region.

Bring it, Belli!!!

What a hell of a ride. NU was 1-11-2 at one point. After two OT wins over Maine this weekend, they're on to the quarterfinals against Notre Dame.

They are 16-1-2 in their last 19. No that isn't a typo. They may not get past Notre Dame but this team has been so much fun to watch since Christmas.

Great road win for NU last night. You're boys are really on a roll. ND probably felt pretty good going into the tourney playing at home against the 6th seed. Too bad for them they drew the hottest team in college hockey.

This is starting to reach a surreal level. They're up to 15th in the Pairwise. One more win might be enough.

Just got home from probably the most frustrating hockey game I've ever been too, Dartmouth 2 Yale 1, to knock Yale out of the ECAC tournament. Yale out shot Dartmouth 47-15, had a ton of other shots just miss (included two that hit the posts), completely dominated possessions, etc... but lost to a far inferior team. Probably will knock us down to a 4 seed instead of a 2 seed in the NCAAs (and maybe some risk that we miss the tournament altogether if some unexpected teams win their tournaments). And Alex Lyon officially ended his Hobey Baker chances by letting in several soft goals last night and tonight.
Urrrggghhh!

Northeastern dropped 6 on Cal Peterson and swept Notre Dame 6-4. 11 in a row. 18-1-2 in their last 21. First Hockey East Semis appearance since 2011. Just unbelievable.

Frustrating loss for quinnipiac tonight against cornell. Extremely chippy game. The ice was terrible from the earlier woman's tournament game and the big red took it to us tonight. Game 3 tomorrow with hopefully better ice than tonight.

I am a Bruins and Michigan fan, so it has been bittersweet watching Connor. Sweeney seems to have really blown it - the kid is the real deal. Fast, can snipe and will be good sized when he fills out.

Cornell needs to win tonight to have any hope of an at-large, and probably needs to win their semi-final game as well, so hopefully they come out with the kind of intensity they showed yesterday

I am too, which is why I continue to bring it up. Connor is up to 30 goals.

Michigan demolished Penn State this weekend, outscoring them 13-2. They'll face the winner of Wisconsin-Penn State on Friday in the BTT. Minnesota gets the winner of Ohio State-Michigan State on the other side as they are the Big Ten regular season champions.

Cornell lost but their is still a small scenario where they can still get into the tournament.

Conference championship weekend is here. NU is playing for their first championship appearance since 1988. RE: NCAA tournament, there's some jockeying that can still happen but the basic idea is if there are no surprise autobids, NU is likely in. So go Michigan, Quinnipiac, and Harvard!

Which is just an astounding result given the trainwreck that was the first half of the NU season. I was thinking I might be in "paper bag for my head" territory by the end, but they proved me wrong. Not super optimistic about tonight though.

Despite every collegiate hockey experience I ever had, I'm at the Garden in an away NU jersey. I'm not holding my breath. Go Huskies.

Yup I'm here too. Not too optimistic, but I'm constantly checking other scores for the at large bid.

Lowell is barely hanging on to this one. They were up in shots when we got here, and they're presently down 49-29.

Two posts from Providence really hurts. 3OT coming up. What do you suppose the cutoff is for the start of the second game? Are they gonna drop the puck at 10pm for a new game? What if that game goes to OT too?

He kind of angled his heel, but I don't think it was a kick. The blade never left the ice and didn't really scrape forward.

I thought they might call it back because of the skate angle but I think I agree, good goal.

Northeastern's forecheck is nailing BC to the wall. If the Huskies lose, it's not because of energy level.
