Some years you don't need any playoffs at all. Just save everyone the time and give it to Georgia.

Having watched the Saders all year, I was optimistically hoping for a repeat of the Fordham/UNH game minus Fordham's turnovers. HC's defense was its weak spot after losing its best player 3 or 4 games into the season. But yesterday, they snuffed out the run completely and the weather ruined the passing game for both teams.
Seconded. Dabo’s puzzling loyalty to QB5 was an anchor on Clemson’s offense all season.
Many have been saying this since September. There has to be so much more going on behind the scenes when it comes to playing time, etc with others aside from the head coach influencing who plays (donors, AD, etc). I’ve felt the same way about K-St all year to a lesser degree as they also had their most effective QB on the field yesterday.
I wonder if it's just a transfer portal thing? To land a guy or keep a guy, you have to make promises that you wouldn't otherwise.
I think this has been going on forever, with the mostly noteable being Henson getting those 2Q snaps over Brady at a min, but even moreso now with the portal in both CFB and CBB. If you don’t play a kid he’s as good as gone.

I hate that TCU and tOSU make the cut. Why bother with conference championships? Why give Michigan an easier game?

Good. I'm glad the selection committee did the right thing.

Tulane in the Cotton Bowl? That seems insane. I know they had a good season, but Tulane seemed more like a team that could drop down to FCS than go to a major bowl game, as they repeatedly finished below .500, in the bottom half of whatever conference they were bouncing between. One winning season in the prior eight. They were 2-10 last year!
What does last year have to do with this one?
Also, Tulane beat K. State by 7. The same K. State team that beat TCU to win the Big 12 championship— the TCU team that just got selected for the 4 team playoff.

I'm not saying they don't deserve it. It's just a remarkable change of direction for a program that mostly seemed to serve a punching bag for big time Southern schools and to round out the random collection of Misfit Toys comprising whatever Conference USA used to be.
Did anybody predict a BCS level bowl game for Tulane at the start of the year?
Tulane was not predicted to win the American. The American champion, however, was definitely predicted to go to a NY6 Bowl.
What’s the problem?
There were people saying Alabama lost to a 4 loss team, which would disqualify them, but Michigan still had a game against a 4 loss team coming up.
And I figured OSU is a better team than TCU, so why would the committee put them against the 1 seed giving the 2 seed the easier path? The committee is supposed to have the ability to divine who the better team is.
