If Georgia ever gets a passing game, watch out.
Their best receiver (George Pickens, an easy NFL Top 10 pick) is out and they are missing 5* phenom TE Darnell Washington too. Fowler brought it up, Georgia is going to be a very, very dangerous team later in the year.

I wish that no look pass had been caught or picked because it would’ve either been absurdly sick or hilariously stupid

astride the divide
13-7. Washington scored on its opening drive, then nothing for 55 minutes. Grizzlies had 105 passing yards and around 240 total. I should have tried to find that game-- youtubeTV doesn't have Pac 12 network and I just figured the Griz would get smashed. Great win for a program that's had some lean (by their standards) years lately.

I just turned on WSU-Utah State. It's 5-3. You don't see that very often.

EDIT: now 6-5, at the half.

Is FOX/FS1 ever going to let Petros Papadikis move beyond bottom tier Pac 12 games? Can’t believe he is only 44. Feels like he has been calling these type of games for 20 years.

With a spate of losses at #s 10, 14, 3 (although that probably will be just a position switch), 12, 16, 17, 20, and 23, I would expect a lot of movement in the polls.

Hoping the Longhorns, with a pretty damn good game, move maybe three slots.

Progress.

Arizona, which a decade I thought was A good job, seems like one of the worst in college football. Funny how things change.
Terrible place to go to school, work, or live. It’s called the Dirty T for a reason

My friend who went to U of A would dispute this characterization of Tucson but would concede that Dick Tomey did a better job than anyone (including him) realized at the time. It’s not Kansas or Wake Forest, but it’s an under-the-radar sucky gig — if we ranked all the P5 coaching jobs, Arizona would be comfortably in the bottom 10, challenging Oregon State for worst in the Pac-12.

Arizona’s last two coaches (Sumlin, and Rich Rod before that) had early success that they parlayed into gigs at big-time programs, where they proved themselves to be empty suits … and then Arizona went and hired them. They now have a first-year coach (Jedd Fisch) who doesn’t fit that mold, but hasn’t been a head coach at any level and isn’t inheriting much talent. A long rebuild lies ahead, and success looks more like perennial respectability than contention.

Can Florida State keep it close with Notre Dame tonight?
Per VegasInsider, the Irish opened as 9.5-point favorites, but the line is down to 7 in most books. So the majority of the gambling community thinks the answer to your question is “yes.”

ND beat FSU 42-26 last season, and the Irish are presumably worse without Ian Book, so the conventional wisdom seems right to me. But I didn’t watch any of FSU’s ugly losses last year.

FSU played ok when their QB was healthy but when he was out it was a disaster. They should be deeper at this position at least this week but the team is an unknown.

I wonder how many people are influenced by the Bobby Bowden effect when betting on FSU tonight.

No one's covered in glory in that transaction. One way or another he should not have been the coach in 2021.

In 2021 we still have a team called the Fighting Irish and their opponent doing the chop.
