People are letting this go?
He yells at teammates all the time and his teammates say they love and respect him.

Jeter was never the best player on his team, let alone ever. so it would be different. There are decades of vitriol towards Jeter archived here, and I expect most of it is how opverrated he was/is, the media's reactions to him, and how selfish he was to move Arod to 3b,

As for the other great QB, he did the same thing, and was received the same ehy

I think the difference is this time Tom jetted up the NY for a wedding two days before a game and then missed the walkthrough the day before. To scream at your teammates after you've blown them off for a couple days is a bit much.

The military campaign thing is one of those multiple things can be true at the same time kind of things, to me.

We don't treat the military very well. We put them in harm's way. We take them for granted. And we don't take care of them later in life.

So, when they use slightly clueless comparisons as a jumping off point to remind us of those things, I don't really have a problem with it. But that doesn't mean that Brady is a bad guy. It's just that sometimes when we do slightly less-than-fully-aware things that give others a chance to make points that should be made more often, we have to pay the price of the overblown outrage that rides along with that shit these days.

I find myself still rooting for Brady and all but you really don't see using a military deployment as an example is just a poor choice especially for someone as PR conscious as Brady?
"They are very similar. You go through rigorous training and then you kill people." - Joint statement from Aaron Hernandez and Ray Rice.

Remember when he posted something on his IG story that people should be nice to each other during the pandemic and there was a debate about how Brady wasn't taking COVID-19 serious enough?
That's one way to spin it I suppose....

He posted a false story saying there had been more suicides than COVID deaths in the past 2 months at the time. He didn't simply say we should be nice. It was legit COVID misinformation.

I'm sure it was an honest mistake but he certainly is prone to getting over his skis.

Chris Simms' pettiness is so off putting. Dude, your 5 year career had you scoring less fantasy points total than Tom Brady's very poor 6 games this year.

It is crazy this guy could have been this awful as a QB and made his career ripping on Brady, the best QB of all time.

But you gotta generate those clicks. Trolls get fed.

Someday we'll find out the real reason why Simms is so laser-focused on his hatred for TB. I've hears some speculation, but damn it's like the guy stole his wife or something.

What's the speculation? Brady was mean to him when he was coach here?

I think that it was something related to Simms getting a tryout with the Pats once and somehow Brady not being supportive or something. It was definitely personal.

I just assumed in the beginning that it was easy for Simms to pile on the anti-Patriots/anti-Brady bandwagon for takezzz because it was pretty crowded back then, but it has moved way past that into pathological. Like Brady did something to him. Maybe others remember some of the speculation that surfaced back then.

Reason #4,409 Felger and Mazz suck. They constantly quote him and play his (non-Brady) soundbites.

I just wish Brady were petty enough to "who is Karim Garcia" this guy. Simms' head might explode...after he cries in the dark for 30 minutes, of course.

Why are people making such a big deal out of Brady being frustrated and yelling at teammates while having offensive issues? He's done that periodically throughout his whole career. Remember the endless arguments over "body language" in 2006? He's always been this guy. How many water bottles and tablets does he throw around every year?

And yeah, Chris Simms' thing with Brady is borderline creepy.

JJ Reddick is similar, but he goes the other way praising all the current stars. He likes to act like he has an edge by going after past players, which gets him clicks too.

Yeah, he’s done such a good job cultivating a mild mannered, charasmatic, almost Ah-Shucks personality at press conferences and such that people forget that he’s a total lunatic.

This is true, though Reddick has infinitely more cred because he had an actual NBA career (15 years and was a starter for a full 5 years in his prime, plus plenty of playoff experience, plus he won the wooden award in college). If Simms had a different last name, no one would have any idea who he is (or was).

I don’t think so. Bucs have a laundry list of issues and I don’t see Brady as one of them.
Yes, looks like OL issues plus lack of skill talent/injuries. But Brady is also in full “OL not Playing Well Brady” mode. Throwing too soon, off balance, etc.

It is crazy that this is the first time since 2002 that a Brady led team is under .500 this late into the season.
That is 20 years of pretty sustained success.

Brady has 8 TD passes in 7 games. Only 1 INT. He’s not taking many risks and is taking the “safe” throw a little too much. Godwin and Evans have only missed a combined 3 games so that doesn’t explain Brady’s lack of production.

The team went through the preseason with their QB “alledgedly” having their HC canned only to take a 12-day vacation while they were busting their ass in the Florida heat. He returns only to announce he’ll be taking Wednesdays off as well.

Sure everyone loved it when Brady joined the team but to many kids in their young and mid-20’s that act can’t be helping bring a football team together. Aside from that the play calling has had to be adjusted due to their OL being decimated so their 45-yr old QB doesn’t get killed. It’s a clusterfvck and this was always a real possibility facing this group. I felt this train going off the tracks at some point in the year but it’s happening sooner rather than later. This free fall the rest of the year is going to be something to see.

Godwin and Evans have played, but they’ve been banged up significantly. Evans could barely move today. Without them healthy, Tampa has nobody.

Man I wish he had stayed retired. I think he can still probably play QB at a pretty high level, but he's clearly off from his typical standards and man Tampa has some big time issues. Hate to see him go out playing poorly on a lousy team, but I guess for a guy who simply couldn't give it up it was always going to end like this.

Brady's stat line most resembles his line from 2019, that last year in NE. Similar yards per attempt, yards per game, QBR. This year he is throwing fewer TDs (career low 2.7%) but freakishly fewer INTs (only one on the year so far for a career-best percentage of 0.3%).

One could have looked at the 2019 line and asked the same question ("is this the end?"), but subsequent events showed that it obviously wasn't. And this looks like another 2019 type year for him.

However, he is 45 now. If this is another 2019, does he have it in him at this point to regroup and give it another shot at 46?

The upcoming schedule is pretty rough for a team that probably needs a reset.

vs. Baltimore on TNF
vs. LA Rams
vs. Seattle (in Germany)

The good news for them is the division is terrible.

In the short term, that is the worst case schedule for the team. But it will either show they can turn it around or it's over.

Losing to Pitt and Carolina, being huge favorites in both, is literally shocking. I just can't believe they got manhandled by those two awful teams.

Well sure, but that also matters. I'm not sure Brady's desire to play extends to getting beat by Trubinsky and Walker and playing .500 ball, even if he's clearly not the problem.

They could come out of that 3-7 or 4-6. Pretty bad. They needed to make some hay against these bad teams. Brady going through some trials on all sides right now. Wonder if he’s doing the 2019 and already looking for an out (MIA or SF etc.).
