You are redrafting every player in the NBA. Their current contract situation exists so if you grab LeBron he can opt out but you have the right to extend Haliburton on a super max. You have to pay the luxury tax but you can draft over the second apron. How does it go in your mind?

1. Wemby
2. Joker
3. SGA
4. Tatum
5. Luka
6. Ant
7. Booker
8. Giannis
9. Brunson
10. Embiid

Wemby, SGA, and Brunson got bonuses because of their contracts. 4-8 was tough to order. 10 took some time as well. I avoid everyone besides Giannis and AD that is over 30 next year. I think you break into KD, Curry, and Kawhi in the next 10 age and injury be damned.

11. Curry
12 AD
13. KD
14. Morant
15. Jarrett Allen
16. Brown
17. Kawhi Leonard
18. Zion Williamson
19. Maxey
20. Sengun

Avoiding LeBron, Mitchell, Paul George, and Butler because of their contract situations

Brown behind Allen is going to get a lot of pushback

Jaylen Brown's contract has a shit ton of value

There is a lot to nitpick here but this feels like a post-Championship discussion.
Sorry just don't have the energy

Jarrett Allen? Sengun? And no Tyrese Haliburton? Not to mention Jamal Murray, D'Aaron Fox, Paolo Banchero, Jalen Williams, Scottie Barnes, Jrue/Zinger/White, Bam Adebayo, among others? That seems nuts.

Haliburton is getting the super max so that was an bad omission. Banchero and Barnes are in a walk year next year and does not have the super max to keep them. White is in a walk year. Bam only has two years left once again is not going to get a super max.

Murray is never healthy and in a walk year.

In this imaginary world, walk years are super scary if you can't give the super max. Players with a max (not super max) are most likely to go find a dance partner. If you are Banchero, why not bail out and get the max to play with Luka? It would be interesting to run this through and see who would have cap space but it would happen.

I'm taking Tatum over SGA. They are the same age and Tatum impacts the game way more beyond scoring.

SGA foul hunts like Luka and prime Harden. That is tougher to pull off in the playoffs (Luka exlcuded).

1. Joker
2. Luka
3. Giannis (would be 2 for me if younger)
4. SGA

5. Wemby (would be top 2/3 if he wasn't an injury risk to me)

6. Tatum
7. Ant

8. Maxey
9. Curry (would be higher if younger)
10.Brunson

Is the question for next year or for next 5 years?

Regardless, I would say Allen is way too high.

I think it would be next 5. Like you are drafting for your franchise however contracts and contract rules stay the same. I feel like your strategy really starts changing around round 3

Edit - Franchise also matters as well like the Clippers would load the hell up on contracts.

I think I go:
1. Wemby
2. Jokic
3. Tatum
-Tier Break-
4. SGA
5. Ant
6. Luka (I think this one could end up looking really dumb. However, I think his conditioning habits are so poor that he could age faster than expected and deal with a lot of injuries)
-Tier Break-
7. Giannis (This could also look poor. How does Giannis age when so much of his game is based off of his otherworld physical gifts?)

I am going to think about this more and continually add to it....because right now I think Jaylen could be 8th but I think that's with some pretty Celtic tinted glasses.
