Its crazy but you are right. As I said the other day, lots of people here thought the Royals got fleeced for Myers with Shields and Davis. Turns out they won that trade so large with Davis being virtually untouchable these days.nvalvo said:Here's the ballgame.

I can see why his offense continues to fall off a cliff after catching that many games. Maybe a day off here and there would be in order.

I guess I am not alone in thinking that he used Price in relief in Game 4 in part because he had more faith in Stroman taking the ball in Game 5 than his "ace".
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Edinson Volquez planned to pitch the Toronto Blue Jays inside in Game 1 of their American League Championship Series, just as he did during their contentious series earlier this season.
Then, after chatting with Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez, he changed his mind.
"We know they got a lot of pull hitters over there, and power hitters, and he told me, `How you feel pitching down and away?' And I said, `I feel sexy tonight,'" Volquez recalled. "And he was like, `All right, we're changing the plan right now. We're pitching those guys away.'"
Joe Magrane on mlbn didn't seem to think it was just baseball cliches, and spent a good deal of time demonstrating last night's approach as a change for Volquez.Al Zarilla said:"We know they got a lot of pull hitters over there, and power hitters, and he told me, `How you feel pitching down and away?' I suppose the other way to pitch to Donaldson, Bautista, etc., is up and in, but down and away seems safer. Both Volquez and Perez used the "both sides of the plate" du jour statement after the game, I think though. Not sure if I heard the other one which is "he used all of his pitches". Baseball and its cliches.
I know but managers, pitchers and commentators all use those two cliches the last few years (both sides of the plate, use all your pitches) as if pitchers haven't been doing them forever.InsideTheParker said:Joe Magrane on mlbn didn't seem to think it was just baseball cliches, and spent a good deal of time demonstrating last night's approach as a change for Volquez.

Ventura's fastball is fast but it's also straight today.InsideTheParker said:You were saying?
Now, if V. can just hold it at one, which Revere's attempts to bunt have helped him with, KC will be "just fine."
