Justice served. Regardless of the issues being questioned I think we all knew in the end he was guilty. Glad our system got it right this time......they don't always.

Thanks again to Rovin and others for the thread!

And we get to do it all over again with the South End murders.

All over a spilled drink at a club. I just can't comprehend that.

Being "hard" and a "thug/gangster/whatever you want to call it" was literally to him, the most important thing in his life.  I'm sure the drugs didn't help his mental state, but he wanted to live a lifestyle and he did.  He had the luxury of having options and could have got support/made other choices easily.  Just a sad story of fucked up priorities for everyone involved.

I'll add to the chorus of thanks to Rovin.

Props for the jury for not rushing to a verdict and getting it right. It will be interesting when a few of them open up and provide some insight into the deliberations.

It's so mind numbingly stupid and pointless, even for those with far less options. I hate this stuff more than pretty much any societal construct.

So Wells Report is gonna drop in, what, 20 minutes?

What, to distract from it while people pay attention to the verdict / sentencing? Hard to imagine Aaron Hernandez doing a good job burying anything.

The part where the bailiff asks every jury member in turn whether the announced verdict was "their verdict", as the camera focused in on AH's face was really weighty.

Just saw a tweet that he was mouthing "Be strong" to Shayanna, but doesn't seem like he's facing her. Maybe talking to himself? God I'd love that. "Be strong, Aaron. Hold it together. Don't start crying."

If I was him I would be wondering about the pitiful amount of defense his high-priced guys put up for him. WTF were they thinking?

Was he doomed because of the shell casing in the rental car?

Man that was so bad I had to edit it.  Glad they got this right.  I was deathly afraid of a hung considering how long this took.  I guess adding back in the smoke breaks was a negotiating tactic toward consensus.

I mean, what else could they have gone with, besides "he was there, but it totes wasn't him!"

Not so fast skippy.  I'm here to collect on our little bet.

However, instead of $50 the Jimmy Fund, I would request that your contribution be made to the following charity:  The Brady and Connor Mokrzycki Ed. Fund c/o Eastern Bank, 17 Storey Ave., Newburyport, MA, 01950.

Up to you, but that's my preference.

Been said before in this thread but worth repeating: RR absolutely killed it in this thread. Total must-read territory.
Add my voice to the chorus of thanks to RR. Great, clear analysis that even a clown like me could understand.

seconding earlier Kudos' to RR for his insight with the trial.    I read somewhere that AH's defense team had made their hay on appeals, so perhaps this wasn't unexpected.

Is the appeal process allowed to play out before the next trail would begin for the double murder?

Isn't that the next trial, or were you referring to this one?
The 2 South End murders were (allegedly lol) over the drink and IIRC Lloyd was killed over his knowledge/gabbing about those murders. 3 fucking people over that stupid shit (that was without a doubt just an accident). God it's infuriating.

Again thanks to RR. All commentary in this thread was useful. Both the experts and the posts asking questions, absent the one post where the guy asked why the prosecutor just doesn't call AH and get it over with, that was less than ideal, but the rest were great questions.

I never found myself getting into the trial, and I'm thinking it was either the length or the fact that it was a pretty boring case. Nothing really came out at trial that wasn't outlined in the arraignment, and we were all pretty certain it was a strong case against AH. I enjoyed following when I did get sucked in, this thread especially, but overall it wasn't that interesting as trials go. Just sad on all counts.

I'd like to add my thanks to all who have made the thoughtful contributions to this thread, especially RR. My interest has been a bit more than idle curiosity.

I'm in the current jury pool here in the wilds of SW New Mexico. To this point, I haven't been called to appear (my term is March through June), and I'll be a much better-informed juror if that summons should arrive.

In a side note, the "Juror Handbook" here defines the function of jurors in criminal cases thus: "a jury determines the guilt or innocence...." As a result of following this thread, I better understand that "innocence" is inaccurate.
