Can we please stop with the "How didn't the Patriots know Hernandez was a bad character guy?"  This is the NFL.....it takes a certain kind of crazy to be a high level collegiate football player (aside from your finesse positions - QB, P, PK) now take that up a few notches to be a successful NFL player.  These guys do not function the same way as the majority of society. Here are the 27 NFL players who have been arrested since the end of the season.......mind you, these are only those who have been ARRESTED, not those who have committed crimes only the ones who have been caught.

It takes a special kind of sick to play at the level necessary in the NFL with includes rampant drug usage and always has.....why would anyone expect this type of individual to be a normal member of society once they step off the field.  It is very difficult for these guys to separate the too due to the nature of the game and lifestyle they lead to get to this point.

I think a form letter is in great need here....

Dear NFL team,
I admittedly have had some issues with "________ " and "_______ " in the past, I can understand if you may be concerned with some aspects
of my character.

To show my sincerity, I am wiling to provide weekly
verification's that I will not  "__________" or "_________ " and not  “____ _____ ____” if you select me as
a draft pick/select me via free agency.

I will voluntarily submit to “Psychiatric Evaluations/Anger Management/Substance Abuse counseling/FID certification”

In the previous incidents, I clearly exhibited immaturity and poor choices.

Some of these are definitely overblown, for example:
I did not stick my “___” in that hussy’s  “____” And she did willingly go into the alley with me for a “______”
and did not appear passed out at all, hence the facebook post and tweets (why would I do that otherwise?)

In the case of my DUI, I only had 1 beer, and can to this day not explain the 0.36 BAC as reported.
The presence of Ketamine, MDMA and Oxycodone reported by” _______” county sherrif’s office remains a mystery,
I assure you I did not willingly or knowingly snort/smoke/shoot/drink/inject or turkey baster any of the above mentioned narcotics into my body.

I commit to working hard on and off the field to demonstrate
the positive changes I have made.

If you still have concerns, please consider that I run a
3.85/40 yard dash, catch everything thrown within 35 yards of me, and average 25 YAC.

While I am finishing up my jail time, my agent will be
available 24/7 if you have any other questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Questionable Character Guy

So July 24 is the date for his probable cause hearing, right? Is this typically a single-day hearing or could it take longer? What sort of timetable for an eventual trial would we be looking at if the judge sees enough evidence? And would the whole process basically restart if the judge throws out the presented case?

If the state can't meet the burden of probable cause, I believe that Hernandez is released and charges are dropped.

There is no chance of that happening.

I'm confident a certain Falcons player has already heard from Arthur Blank re his tweet on the Martin verdict. Twitter exposes brilliantly, unsparingly and instantaneously.

Great thing about this. The NFL propaganda arms in the media consistently portray these brothers as paragons of virtue, probity and intelligence, especially the Steeler Pouncey.

Granted they look like a couple of drunk assholes, but honestly if I got a call from the league on this and I were them, I'd rationally explain that I am a firm believer in innocent until proven guilty and that I believe a defendant awaiting trial in a murder case that does not involve the death penalty should be entitled to bail with conditions, such as a GPS lojack, or supervision paid for by the defendant.  Then I'd ask them what Goodell's stance on those issues are.

Fuck the politically correctness of twitter reporting, Mike Florio is outraged?  Who gives a fuck?

Two years before they were teammates in New England, Tom Brady and Tim Tebow squared off twice on the field, with Brady winning each game handily.

After the first one, coming in December 2011 and at the height of Tebowmania, the two quarterbacks shared concerns about Aaron Hernandez and Brandon Spikes, who played with Tebow at the University of Florida and then with Brady on the Patriots.

“I’m trying to watch over Aaron and Brandon,” Brady says to Tebow in an NFL Films video, via the Orlando Sentinel.

“I appreciate that, too, man. They’re good guys,” Tebow says in response.

“[T]hey’re a lot to handle,” Brady adds.

One one hand, that's just Brady making that awkward postgame small-talk and mentioning two guys Brady knows that Tebow also knows -- it's something they actually have in common. But the context that Brady chose to put it in is interesting.

(MyFoxBoston.com) - Traffic was stopped and backed up on Route 128 South Tuesday afternoon as investigators conducted a search possibly in connection to the Aaron Hernandez murder case.
The search was not confirmed to be related to Hernandez; however, when FOX 25 called Mass. State Police to inquire about the search, authorities said to contact the Bristol County District Attorney's Office even though the search was in Norfolk County.

Side view mirror or (gulp).....the murder weapon?

If it's the latter i'd suspect Ernest Wallace is in the process of cutting a deal and tipped police off on the whereabouts of the gun.  If so.....bye bye Aaron.

Gronk stone-walled the media last week at his book signing, and took an even more aggressive stance today.  I assume there's a major gag order from above on Gronk right now.  Things might be different when training camp opens, but what a great F U to the media by Gronk, who normally loves them.

I'm going full-on homer and taking this as a sign that Gronk is focused, has taken all of the "advice" the organization has given him so far about his off-field adventures, and is ready to be a huge force in the league this year.

It reads a lot worse that it sounds.  When you actually watch the video, as Buffalo Head said, it sounds like Brady is making small talk about a couple of guys they both happen to know well.  And jokingly.  An interesting soundbite, but not a big deal.

Yup. It's like when you run into someone you kinda know but have never had a long conversation with and have nothing to say so you bring up Pookie and Ray Ray from high school.

Prosecutors have begun making the case to a Suffolk County grand jury that former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez should be charged in the shooting death of two men on a South End street last July, according to two law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation.

“The case against Hernandez appears to be strengthening,” one of the officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss the case publicly.

The proceedings are conducted behind closed doors so details of the case against Hernandez are unknown. But the very fact that the case has gone to a grand jury indicates that the investigation of the killing of two Cape Verdean immigrants is now more narrowly focused on Hernandez. Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu were shot early on July 16, 2012, in the South End when someone in a sport utility vehicle with Rhode Island license plates pulled up next to their car and began firing.

Well if he gets federal charges Boston is no longer the jurisdiction I would guess.

Of course it matters if federal charges were brought.  Federal law provides a death penalty, MA law does not.

By the same token, don't get carried away as Florio has.

Since 1988, the federal government has taken to trial a total of 190 federal death penalty cases involving 281 defendants in 220 trials. These 281 defendants were culled from a larger pool of 492 against whom the Attorney General had authorized the government to seek the death penalty. Excluding 28 defendants who are awaiting or currently on trial on capital charges, 226 of the remaining 464 defendants avoided trial by negotiated plea, when the government dropped its request for the death penalty without a plea agreement, dismissed charges entirely or the judge barred the death penalty. Thirteen were found not guilty of the capital charge. Two others were declared innocent by the government. Charges were dismissed against a third when grave questions were raised about his guilt. There have been three executions. One death row inmate was granted clemency. In cases where juries actually reached the point of choosing between life and death, they imposed 143 (66%) life sentences and 72 (34%) death sentences.

Put differently, the odds are right down there with the Pats drafting Jadeveon Clowney.

Not only that but everyone involved is young. Young people text at all times of the day. Lloyd's sister took a few minutes to reply not because she was asleep but because her phone lost charge. What would help is knowing how Lloyd's sister replied back. Did she text back, "Oh shit. Please be careful," or "lol ok.

Semi nailed it. She replied 'Lol your aggy' to Odin's text that he was with 'NFL.' The document said this meant she was 'aggravated' by her brother's text but I'm having a hard time following. Shouldn't it be Odin's aggravated and not her since she said 'your' unless AUTOCORRECT completely shit the bed on that one.

I believe the interpretation is that she was saying, "You're aggravating me" -- I'm assuming by texting a seemingly throwaway line at that hour.

Coincidentally, I had a conversation with a friend who teaches middle school in Roxbury (just a few minutes from where Odin/his sister lived, I believe) a couple months ago. She was telling me how some of her kids say "you're aggy." I believe it meant, as interpreted above, that "you're agitating/aggravating me." Even more ridiculously, many of these same students did not know the word agitated/aggravated -- just the slang aggy.

I took it as meaning "you're touchy" - like, "calm down, I get it, you're with Hernandez, fine (you know it's 3am, right?)."
