I won't ask how old you are because Hawaii years are probably different from anywhere else years. Right? Happy Birthday!
This is what I want to know. I thought of @Sprowl and @mauidano when I heard the news this morning. It is so hard from broadcast news to tell how widespread this is, but the fact of this gamethread is making me more optimistic about Maui. However, the situation may have changed since this thread was begun. Happy Birthday, and let us know what's what.
Going tonight with my twin boys who just turned 21. I’ve been waiting a long time to sit in the stands at Fenway and have a beer with them. A win would also be nice!
5 games back in the WC is looking insurmountable. I said they needed to go at least 7-3 (two games ago) at a minimum, 8-2 would be ideal. That's now 6-2 or 8-1 and I'm not optimistic. Reinforcements might be showing up slightly too late (and/or possibly not totally ready for ML action.... Story?)
In all seriousness, it's been a devastating day and night with horrific brushfires on our Island. We are safe and comfortable up on the mountains of Central Maui. We can see the fires, especially at night. We are waking up today to the incredible loss of homes, historical business districts in Lahaina and potentially human lives.
This is when baseball takes us away for a few hours and brings us diversions. Win it for Maui.

He lives in Haiku which is a safe area but still close enough to be cautious.

The 9 to 3 blowout last night wasn’t pretty.
If we break August down to the nitty gritty,
our hitting and pitching have simply been s#!tty.
We’ve polled our posters, and with words wise and witty,
we agree that the Sox still have itty-bitty
post season chances. (Is this false hope or pity?)
In either case, it does not take a committee
to know that it’s time to get tough and play gritty.
Let’s add tonight’s game to our “need to win” kitty.

I just saw they had picture day at the park in the classic home whites. Then changed into the banana suits.
What's the point of "picture day"? Half of these guys were not here from the start of the season and some won't be there in a couple days.

My worst recent memory of a Red Sox offense was June-July 2014. I’m getting flashbacks right now.
I mean, he was a top 50-ish guy before last year, and led all of the minors in home runs in 2021. Still K's too much, but he's a legit bat.
