Here's the issue for me: It was a 4-2 game with the top of the lineup scheduled. Cora needs to stop "saving" the top half of the pen for games where they are leading.

That should have been a Winck inning
Hell we just lost a game because he was saving the pen with an off day the next day for…reasons. Feels pretty bad to put this one out of reach with another of the bottom tier.

Seems like Turner being out would be a good excuse to activate Story, but I guess we don’t want to rush it and risk him not hitting well out of the gate. While we play a SS hitting .160.
Beats me how him playing in Worcester tonight makes any fucking sense.

Is it saving the top half for games we are leading or saving it for games where we don't have a starter and we have to piece 9 quality innings together from the top half of the bullpen?

Yes? I mean, Winck could have come in an stunk as well, but there was a better chance of that not happening.
The pitching staff is glue and duct tape at this stage. Not getting a starter at the deadline, citing the premise of the returning troops, was suboptimal

Probably a bit of both?

But I mean, he does this when there aren’t bullpen games on the horizon.

My number one Bloom beef is the total disregard for defense. That seems like an area that could be at least average even during a lower spend rebuild, yet our d is total dogshit.

Sure could have used it earlier and maybe Cora wouldn't have gone to Llovera.
Why does Cora demand to go to the most recently acquired reliever repeatedly? Only Bernadino has survived this treatment

I get wanting to use the best arms in games the team is winning, but does he have to use the stiffs when the sox are trying to come back in an important game?

Raffy swinging at dogshit and watching hangers go by is....not great
He has missed or fouled off at least 5 awful middle or middle-in fastballs tonight swinging out of his fucking shoes. Really disappointing stuff from him lately. Home run or bust. It sucks.

I would bench Devers for a few games at this point. Get him focused, since something is clearly off with him.
