Ok, I'm going to sort out this Salem nonsense. Notwithstanding the fact that they could have gotten pitching reinforcements...
Today, Nunez, Ramsey, Butler & Talavera has all pitched, & Talavera had already gone 3.2, so I understand wanting to take him out.
Yesterday, Monegro (5), Ruiz (2) & Brand (2) all pitched so I can understand not wanting to put any of them out there for the 11th.
On Wednesday, Elvis (3.2 innings/63 pitches), De La Rosa (2.1/43), Felix (1.1/36), & Perez (1.2, 37) pitched. I guess I could see wanting to be cautious with young arms, but seems like a couple of those guys could have been available.
On Tuesday, Ramirez (3.1/84), Talavera (1.2/39), Butler (1/36) & Valera (3/27). Talavera & Butler did pitch. Seems like Valera should have been available after 27 pitches 4 nights ago.
Monday is an off day.
On Sunday, Paez started with some of those other guys.
On Saturday some of those other guys + Noah Dean pitched.
So what does this tell me? Idk...
My best guess for tomorrow is that they use Michael Valera to open for Noah Dean, & De La Rosa (who opened for Dean last Saturday), Felix & Perez should be available as needed.
& then on Sunday, Paez, whichever of those guys don't pitch Saturday, & Ruiz/Brand should be available.
But really... why do they hate letting new draftees pitch? I guess it's all development that 1st year.
Innings pitched for '22 draftees in '22:
Landry 2.2
Rogers 2
Brand 2
Godman 2
Coffey 1.2
Bolden 1.1
Dean 0
Hoppe 0
Johnson 0
Mullins 0
Ramsey 0
Ehrlicher 0
Butler 0
This year I don't think any new guy has pitched more than 1.
But there are other FCL pitchers who have been pitching this season that could help.
Guys like Luis Cohen, Francis Hernandez, Stijn Van Der Schaaf & Willian Colmenares seem like obvious choices to get more run.
You could either move on from guys like Jhonny Felix, or promote guys like Raelin Perez & Jonathan Brand.
& to create room in Greenville you could move on from guys like Nate Tellier & Joey Stock, or promote guys like Zach Penrod & Brock Bell.
& to create room in Portland you could move on from guys like Sterling Sharp & Ryan Miller, or promote guys like Luis Guerrero & Hunter Dobbins.
& to create room at Pawtucket you could move on from guys like Chase Shugart & promote someone to the Red Sox when rosters expand.
