Abreu seems to have plus raw power, plus arm strength, and plus plate discipline. You can stay in MLB quite awhile on those tools alone.

Bello doesn't have his ace stuff today, but thankfully he doesn't need it. Just get through 6 in 100 pitches and call it a day.

I read that Abreu doesn't have big raw power but his swing is optimal for getting the most out of what he has. Maybe that's not a great scouting report though. OFten guys can develop a lot more power as they mature into their mid 20s.

He has great patience and plate discipline though and he's only striking out at a 20% rate this year in AAA....he might be a MLB-level starter as early as next year. He certainly looks like a potential replacement for Verdugo if his range is decent enough. His arm is above average so that should play in RF.

I am glad that the season ended for the Sox last night. It will make playing out the string in games such as these so much more enjoyable and relaxing.

The game is not Llovera-proof yet....against the MFY it would be, but not the Astros.

Grab another crooked number here and then maybe we can discuss.

Is Casas in just to give Turner the rest of the day off? Not due to a new injury?

Duvall is a machine.
Dude goes through these streaks where he just mashes everything and then he looks clueless for a stretch.

SLG is up to .547 on the year now. If we can get him, Devers, and Casas all hot at the same time down the stretch, could be some fireworks.

Why can't we get guys like the one who replaced him?

Get Bello thru the 5th, then bring in the bottom of the bullpen
Bullpen is Schreiber, Bernardino and Llovera.* I suppose they can get 4 innings out of that floatsam.

*what a day to score 11 runs early.

My "always-wear-the-same-hat-during-the-game-while-we-are-on-a-win-streak-and-pick-a-new-hat-every-time-we-lose" superstition has ingrained itself into my head.
It may be stupid, but I can't break the tradition.
Yesterday's hat was leading us well for 3 innings today, but I had to shower and work sans hat for online meetings. (I am currently wearing it on my knee just out of camera.)
Since the change, the 'stros have outscored us 1 - 0.
I hope the hat gave us a big enough lead to get through this game and allow me to don it again tomorrow.
