Nobody Cares
The box score! The standings! For goodness sake.
The whole Sox lineup has started to rake,
hitting all too well like Taylor hit Jake.
We’re leaving some shellshocked teams in our wake.
Other contenders are starting to quake
because a wild card spot is at stake.
We’re on the rise like some kind of sea snake
about to strike from the depths of the lake.
Only two games back. We’ll be hard to shake.
Playing the A’s has been a piece of cake,
but those darn things are tricky to bake,
so we’ve got to pitch well, hit hard, and make
the plays in the field in order to take
this final game before a well-earned break.
Remember the words @JohnnyTheBone spake.
Let’s make the five streak real and not fake.

Some guy named named Tay who was walking down Commonwealth yesterday got a text from an unknown caller asking if he could start the game today. It was probably a wrong number but Tay said sure and Bloom doesn’t want to look like he didn’t know what he was doing, so he’s just going with it.
Presumably Murph will come in after hopefully 2 scoreless…. Followed by Lou Barlow and then J. Mascis to close

JTB (like the Sox) hitting on all cylinders. Today's ToP selection is a very smooth launch to a Sunday morning.

I hate Verdugo, Duran and Casas all getting the day off in a bullpen game, with a sweep on the line, on the eve of a four day AS break. Strong bench though.
I like the old time managers better, meaning when guys are hot, you ride'em and ride'em and ride'em. To hell with guys like Duvall. Where's the future in guys like him? Establishing trade value? How about a pedal to the metal playoff drive instead.

I don't see Kike fitting into their plans either. His value as a hitter and as an infielder are both more than suspect.

The gran facenda
Refsynder 7
Turner 3
Devers 5
Duvall 9
Yoshida DH
Alfaro 2
Hernandez 8
Arroyo 4
Chang 6
Scott 1

No Duran or Verdugo is certainly a choice.
I think they'll both be in the game. Oakland's pen is fairly shot after the last two games. They used three on Friday, with Medina going 6. and they used six yesterday. Short innings, but not everyone can go two days in a row.

The Red Sox finally got the message that we've all known since Friday. They could start Buchholz, put Merloni at short, Middlebrooks at third, Millar at first and Rice in LF and still win today

How about Yaz in left, and not the grandson. The A's did sweep the Brewers this year, in Milwaukee. Maybe it was the extreme data point on the bell curve of baseball outcomes this century, but it happened.

The case for that lineup is pretty simple... The Athletics are starting a LHP. Refsnyder crushes lefties, Duvall has no RHP/LHP split, and Duran and Verdugo have struggled against them all year.

Sears is the one of only two starting pitchers on the Athletics staff with an ERA under 6. I approve this lineup. Get to this guy early and we'll see Duran/Verdugo in the second half of the game.

You're right of course and Yoshida also has no RH/LH split to speak of if anybody wanted to bench him vs. the lefty. We just like to bitch when guys on a tear are sat down, even when the splits suggest it.

I think in the grand scheme of things, the goal is to get everybody to play today before the break, so we will see Duran/Casas/Verdugo early, and will see all of the pen at some point, no matter the score.

I get that. I want to see Duran play every day, and I kind of want to see if Duran can handle lefties better than he has, especially given the epic heater he is on right now. But at the end of the day Refsnyder just crushes them, and all-around has had one of the best plate approaches on the team, so I really welcome his presence in the line-up too

I wonder how DOB chooses when to say "The Green" or "The Tin"?

- EDIT - OH, the scoreboard is "The Tin" and the Wall is "The Green". How could I have been so stupid?

Taylor Scott’s major league numbers are about the worst I’ve ever seen, and his minor league ones aren’t great either.

For those of you who were watching the DP World Tour when Golf Channel cut away from a playoff to go to a studio show, Hojgaard beat Elvira on the sixth playoff hole
