I think they just rushed him back frankly. They need him to get up to speed quickly or this team is going nowhere (which is a brutal indictment of the current state of the Major League roster).

I agree with Millar. The season turned when Jansen blew those consecutive well-pitched games from Sale and Paxton. We haven't been the same since. Devastating losses.
They won four in a row soon after that St. Louis sweep.
The turning point was that Sunday game in San Diego. They got shutout and the offense has been dead ever since.
I am working on the theory that Henry felt burned by his decision to give an already injured Sale the contract after the '18 World Series and hired Bloom to rebuild the team along Tampa Bay lines----i.e., cheap. Anyway, the buck stops at Henry's desk. He has spent many of them, but he is extremely shy about long-term contracts, understandably. I wonder if he's already sorry about the Devers deal.
The Mutts are keeling the NYY on TBS, if that floats your boat at all. Watching this game here is just masochism at this point.
