O'Brien says "flip to the pitcher for the out" without ever telling us who the pitcher was

This may be the epitome of hindsight being 20/20, but I was thinking this as I listened to it happening on my drive into work. Bard has been having some control issues recently and walked Duvall on a pitch in the dirt. He then faced Casas trailing in the count 1-0 due to a pitch clock violation. Should Casas have taken at least one pitch in that situation?

I don't even think it's hindsight, absolutely should have take a pitch or two

Even lousier teams can beat you when you gift them 2 runs with errors and shit the bed with the bases loaded and nobody out.

Cora was probably concerned that they lose their challenge for tomorrow's game if it's not overturned

Putting aside Jones' miracle catch, Devers & Casas are having pretty bottom-percentile seasons and tonight's on them

Rockies improve to 11-21 on the road.

To lose this game after the start they got from Paxton? Ugh. Only the A’s have given up more runs than Colorado, should have shelled Seabold.

Two steps forward, two steps back with this team .

Yoshida should have tried to steal. With a runner on 3rd base and nobody out, the catcher might not even throw it. Stay out of the force out and get the tying run in scoring position.

Why would the catcher not throw it? The runner on 3rd meant nothing

The risk of a bad throw not only scores that runner but Yoshida could end up on 3rd with no outs.
Great, by that logic you should steal every time a guy is on 1st base late in a close game because they might throw it away. That run means nothing, there's 0 chance that they wouldn't throw down because they're scared of throwing it into center field.

The first was bad, but the ninth kills this team. Duvall works a walk from Bard after 8 pitches, and gets a ball put up on Casas because of a clock violation. Casas rolls the first pitch he sees, a sinker that was borderline, into a 4-6-3. Arroyo fights off a handful of pitches, then barrels a cement-mixer slider to left-center for a double. Wong jams a sinker just under the hands, also first pitch he sees.

It stings double when you realize that Bard’s rep is that he can be wild. Any amount of patience from the kids and this never sees the tenth.
