Let's see. He was pulled from the game on the 7th and benched on the 8th for not hustling; he's from Arizona playing for a last place club in New England and is only signed through this season with arbitration in 2024 and free agency in 2025. Why would I think that maybe he hopes to be traded while he still has free agency as a bargaining tool?
I don't know. Why would you think getting a reputation for not hustling would increase his value to other teams?

Interesting lineup after the defensive issues last night:

1. Alex Verdugo (L) RF
2. Masataka Yoshida (L) LF
3. Justin Turner (R) 1B
4. Rafael Devers (L) 3B
5. Adam Duvall (R) CF
6. Triston Casas (L) DH
7. Christian Arroyo (R) 2B
8. Reese McGuire (L) C
9. Pablo Reyes (R) SS

This probably the optimal defensive lineup, right? Maybe Kiké in center if I'm splitting hairs.

I agree. I was just wondering why the poster above seemed to imply that Verdugo's behavior had to do with his wanting to move to another team.
Maybe he'd like to be playing in his home state or somewhere out West or maybe he'd like to be playing for a team with a better chance of contending sooner. And if he does get traded, the team that gets hom will need to cough up some money or he will be a free agent in 2025.
