I wish Trevor Story didn't shatter into pieces whilst diving for a baseball.

An infamous former Son of Sam Horn postulated that the median run value of an error was two. It sounds high, and I haven't kept track, but I've noticed a lot of errors that lead to more than one run in the years since I read that post.

This team would be, like, 12-7 if it it weren't for all the dumbfuck errors. Truly awful stuff. Hamilton, Reyes, Abreu and Rafaela each have 3. That's astonishing

Yeah, average defense and their record is much better.

And/or a couple of the scuffing guys having a normalish season with the bat. Not even a good season. Just not-abysmal.

Baseball isn't an easy sport, but at times this does seem like very low-hanging fruit.

Don't forget baserunning. We're playing our opponents 28 outs to 26, it feels like, every game.

The hard parts of baseball that the other team has control over are really hard. Hitting and making good pitches. To fuck up the stuff that is independent of the other team, to a significant degree at least, just makes the rest so freaking hard.

I wasn't too happy with going to Jacques on a completely fresh pen, either. Have the day off Monday, just because Cleveland is lefty-heavy at the top of the lineup doesn't mean you go to Jacques.

Hopefully just some growing pains that come with giving a lot of playing time to young players. Tough to watch, seems like almost everyone on the team is pressing and trying to do way too much.

Yeah, that's the optimistic case, and I think its the right one. I think the game just needs to slow down for Abreu and Rafaela. They're both clearly pressing. Hamilton is a bad fielder, on the other hand. Reyes, I don't know what's happening with him.

Really cool sit down interview by Tom Caron with Bernandino on the post game show.

Sometimes, when the team is down 2 or 3 runs in the middle innings of a game, I think Cora actively makes the worst bullpen decisions possible in an attempt to put the game out of reach so that he doesn't have to make any actual decisions later in the game if the team is trying to come from behind.

To be far Jacques did his job when first called on.
