Man, they gotta dump this strobe light shit after a walkoff.
I try to be open minded, but I agree. Going to look extra stupid when one of them gets called back and the team goes on to lose. What an awful idea (and, yes, I know the Sox aren't the only ones doing it. It is awful everywhere)

Saw some vid of Muncy crushing one in LA. Similar light show, but it appeared the switch to "dark" came while the ball was still in the air. Not optimal for those in the flight path.

When the Red Sox win, I want to hear and sing along to Dirty Water as soon as possible. Please don't let anything get in the way of that.

Tessie as a follow-up when in the park is pretty goddamned perfect too.

That was one of the craziest games I've ever seen. From catcher's interference to a pitcher scoring a run in extra innings to the Kike striking out being a big help, to the delayed walkoff, it was nutty.

Who knows what will happen next, but it's really encouraging to see that Sale still has the capability to dominantly blow away hitters for 6 innings. After the last few years, it's great to see the proof that he can still do it. Whether he can do it consistently remains to be seen and we won't know about that for a while, but at least we know he still has it in him and that's great news.
He actually laughed in the postgame interview-- I don't think I've ever seen him laugh before.

Our catching situation is looking pretty good for now, with McGuire hitting .400 and Mr. Wong gunning down runners left and right. Wong was calling the pitches for Sale tonight and just based on results alone, I want him back there again for Sale every start until further notice.
I wonder whether speeding up the game increases the chance for weird stuff to happen. You just have no time to get mentally prepared for the next play. Decisions whether to pull the infield in, decide what you are doing on a contact play, and all that, happen quick.

Technical point — there was no catcher’s interference last night, at least from a statistical perspective. Instead, you had something weirder. Fielder’s choice with two errors. Interestingly, because the Red Sox took the play, McGuire gets charged with an AB and finishes the game 1 for 2 instead of 1 for 1, with a FC.
