The bright side of this is if they follow the pattern they've been on this year, they'll be playing great when the playoffs start. And they might need to be because they're currently drawing Carolina in the round one.

Edit: but gosh, when this team gets into a funk, they suck out loud.

Outside of a couple of counterpunches, OTT has had almost no possession this period. A penalty was inevitable, but the PP is rough right now.

That's the kind of night the Bruins are having... super clean win of the face off and the puck goes out of the zone right past the Bruin player..

right here
Next time we go on the pp someone should just punch someone to take a roughing. 4 on 4 has to be a better option

Just when I thought that their is no way they could find a defenseman worse than Forbort, they get Josh Brown.

Detroit, Capitals, Senators… I would not have these circled as Losses a couple weeks ago. This is kinda brutal to watch. I know there’s a couple key injuries but jelling doesn’t happen overnight. Postseason expectations being recalibrated, here.

If some of the guys that are in the lineup are actually in the lineup in the postseason, they’re not winning anything regardless. Just get in the tournament healthy.

They're fine. The 5x5 play is there and elite. 57% xGF% over the 3 game stretch.

Special teams has hit a speed bump, particularly the PP. These things tend to happen in a long season. I'm pretty confident they'll figure it out given the track record of elite PP play under this coaching staff and top end personel. A bad two week stretch of PP shouldn't overide 5+ years of a top 5 PP with largely the same personel on the top unit. There's been some hiccups defensively, but that's going to happen given the injuries.

I don't really care about seeding and wins at this point. There's nothing to be gained by moving up or down. If they stay in a WC, it's Florida or Carolina, both 110 point teams. Carolina is no bargain but I think I'd prefer to jump to the Metro. Hell, NYR may catch Carolina and while Shesterkin is scary they are by far the weakest team of the 8 in the East. If the Bruins jump Tampa, then they get Toronto another 110+ point team. They aren't catching Toronto and grabbing home ice, so there's no point in pushing.

If I'm them, I'm in full load management mode the rest of the way. Pick 1 or 2 games to roll the playoff lineup out for a tuneup, otherwise rotate sitting the core players like Bergy, Marchand and McAvoy to get them healthy and as rested as can be. Don't play Lindholm and Pastrnak until they are 100%, or as close to it as they'll get.

My eyes are telling me that McLaughlin looks like he belongs. Whatever his limitations, he does not seem tentative, which is often the death trap for rookies. One good development, I hope.
