So, Ottawa:
On the one hand... meh?
They are just a sliver over .500 and while I'm sure they aspire, they're on the outside looking in for the playoffs.
On the other hand...
What a weird little season series it has been, given what the Bruins do to everyone else. Back in the October game Ottawa had the temerity to deliver the Bruins their first loss of the season, scoring 64 seconds in, adding more to get to a 3-0 lead and finishing it off at 7-5.
One could see that early game as a little bit of an aberration, but the second match-up on 12/27 was a wild one also, with the Bruins needing a late goal just to squeeze a point out of an eventual shootout loss. Made me want to burp up the last of my egg nog.
Finally, in February things looked a little closer to what one might expect with the Bruins getting the 3-1 win, but even this one took until pretty late for that third goal.
I guess the trend line is in the right direction.
Ottawa also enters the game on the second of a road back-to-back themselves, beating Pittsburg 2-1 last night on a late power play to get the W.
With all of that in mind, I strongly encourage the Bruins to blast Ottawa to pieces like the Senators are a bunch of early spring ice chunks in the Rideau!
