That is awesome place. Played it once in 2019 and am trying to figure out a way to get back.Caledonia is my favorite course. So fun.

Will be doing just that. Having the wife meet me after my round for a sandwich and a beer on the porch.I second this. I want to head back to Myrtle just to play that course and then sit on a rocking chair with a cocktail and watch the golfers come up 18!!
My Strealth broke on me a few weeks ago. Went and got fitted with a Callaway Rogue ST Max. The fitter had me try a stiff shaft instead of my normal regular that I had been using forever. Seems I have a high trajectory and spin rate. My drives now when I hit them straight are going 250-260 whereas my previous were in the 225-235 range.Have any of you experienced new found length later in your years (I'm 53)? I am not exaggerating when I say I have gained somewhere in the 30-50 yard range on my driver.
This is good to hear. I'm going in August and playing Pawleys Plantation (never played it), TPC Myrtle (played it once 15+ years and loved it), True Blue (never played it) and Caledonia (never played it).Caledonia is my favorite course. So fun.
Yeah, getting in the right technology from a good fitter makes a world of difference. I got a significantly more consistent (and therefore longer) when I moved to my current set of Stealth woods after a good fitting session. Will be doing just that. Bombed one 290 last week!
I played TPC Myrtle many years ago and it was a delight (IIRC it was shortly after it opened), and we also played True Blue and Caledonia. I think Caledonia has the best classic Myrtle golf vibes and the most unique character but I loved all 3 courses - you're in for a treat. This is good to hear. The Cajun Chicken Club is excellent. Airbrush on draft if you like hazy IPA.Will be doing just that. Having the wife meet me after my round for a sandwich and a beer on the porch.
All good courses. Pawley's is tight, gotta keep it in the middle. True Blue is the opposite, with some of the widest fairways I've seen. Excellent line-up of courses, you'll have a blast I'm sure! This is good to hear. Been awhile but I also enjoyed Pawley's especially on the back when you play along the intercoastal. Very quiet and quite a bit of water. This is good to hear. Congratulations!! I remember my first round in the 70s vividly. No birdies, 7 bogeys. 11 pars. Finally broke 70!
After previous bests of 82 and 81 at a local course, I shot a 77 this morning!
37 on the front and 40 on the back.
What a great feeling when everything is working at the same time. Usually its my driver is on but my irons suck or vice versa.
Where on the Cape? For public courses I don’t mind Falmouth Country Club and Cape Cod Country Club. Falmouth is a little shittier to my eye if you’re looking for shitty courses.I will be in the Cape for the next few weeks. The weekend of the 26th, I'm trying to get my family to golf together. We have golfed in the Cape quite a bit, but shitty courses. My cousin's boyfriend is apparently a decent golfer and joining us. Does anybody have any recommendations for places to golf on the 26 or 27? I only golf at shitty courses usually.
If you’re okay with a 35 minute ferry ride + 10 minute cab go to.Farm Neck on MV. Beautiful course.I will be in the Cape for the next few weeks. Where on the cape are you going to be?Bridge traffic is definitely a concern. I'll check out old barnstable since that's not far.
Apparently we don't have a tee time yet. Looks like those tee times should open up in two days.
Congrats! That's a huge achievement! Way to go!! At what point did you think, oh man, I really think I can do this? Finally broke 70!

Brookside in Bourne or Cape Cod CC in Falmouth are by far your two best options. Pizza, wings, and beers at the Trading Post after. Old Barney is solid too as mentioned above as well.Falmouth
I've played CT National once and really liked it. It's not good enough to go from Eastern MA regularly but if I lived in Southern Central MA or God forbid Connecticut I'd play it a lot.I played at CT National in Putnam, CT, a couple of weeks ago. LOVED that course. Shot an 81, which was pretty solid I think, given that it was my first time out there. Played yesterday as well and could only play nine because downed trees closed the back nine (different course, not CT National). Shot a 40 *while missing three two-foot putts*.
The lesson as always: don't be too quick to give me a "gimme", because for me, no such thing truly exists.
I was at 59 with 4 holes left pars 4,4,3,4. I parred 15 and the bogeyed 16,17,18.Congrats! That's a huge achievement! Way to go!! At what point did you think, oh man, I really think I can do this?
Nice. When I first broke 80 (shot a 75), I knew I was having a great day when I went really low on the front. But I was like, all it takes is one catastrophe (which I'm more than capable of) to end it, so I just wanted to keep putting drives in the fairway and aim for the middle of the green and just keep playing solid. But even on the last hole, when I stood at 71, I was like, oh man it would be just like me to lose the tee shot, hit my provisional into the woods, find it, have to chip out, duff an approach shot, and like 3 putt for a 9 to end at 80. It was only when I piped my drive right down broadway that I felt like it was for sure going to happen.I was at 59 with 4 holes left pars 4,4,3,4. I parred 15 and the bogeyed 16,17,18.
But it was at 13 when I hit a 4i 205yds over a creek and landed 5 feet behind the green and 2 putted for par that I had the feeling.
I gone a lot in the winter but I've always wondered if the struggle massively in the summer to bring business in... this would seem to confirm that they do indeed.I will be taking advantage of this today.
My brother works at one closer to Boston, and he can pretty much play all day Saturday and Sunday... he maybe gets a group or two in at a time. The difference is if it is known that it will be a washed out weekend.I gone a lot in the winter but I've always wondered if the struggle massively in the summer to bring business in... this would seem to confirm that they do indeed.
I'm assuming they're sending the shaft with the adapter already installed on the shaft. You'll just need a torque wrench to remove the old shaft and screw on the new shaft.I had forgotten about this thread.
My ParadigmX shaft cracked and I'm getting another shaft from Calloway pre owned (where I originally got it). the dude said they are sending me the shaft and all I need to do is literally screw it back in. is that really all I need to do? no epoxy or anything? it's that easy?
Be careful comparing newer clubs with older sets. Many newer clubs are strongly lofted. My Mavrik 7 iron is 27 degrees and my old 7 iron was 33 degrees. So yeah I hit the new ones farther because it’s closer to my old 5 iron in loft. Almost all the new irons have reduced loft making them seem magically longerI'm about to hit 58 and my distance keeps getting shorter and shorter. And totally losing my 4 & 5 irons. I went to Golf Galaxy yesterday and looking to get hybrid to relace 4 & 5 iron. Mentioned I thought about getting some new irons to replace my Ping G2s that I bought in 2003 . He basically said are you willing to spend a bunch money for a few yards of distance. I agreed with him. But he said bring my 7 iron in and we can compare. I had them out in my my car so I grabbed it. I was hitting my 7 iron about 150. Grabbed the the Ping 430 and with 10 shots I was averaging 173. I think I am going back today to order some new irons.
Totally agree but I don't think I have an iron in my bag right now that I can hit 173. I figured I will finish the season with my current irons and decide over the winter.Be careful comparing newer clubs with older sets. Many newer clubs are strongly lofted. Wile this is absolutely true, they also launch higher and control spin and off-center hits much better. It doesn't really matter which club you hit 170, so long as it performs more consistently and doesn't give huge gaps at the top or bottom of your set. If you think of more like " I now have a 5 iron that plays like a 7 iron" then I think the benefits are pretty clear. If you're one of the people who can hit a 5 iron 210 yards consistently, there are definitely still sets for you. Golfers and clubs.. it's rarely the club especially if you're already playing GI irons. It's not like the magic smoke eventually leaks out of the club it's just that your swing is probably busted in some way. Go get lessons.I'm about to hit 58 and my distance keeps getting shorter and shorter. And totally losing my 4 & 5 irons. Right, my so what comment just meant that it doesn't matter about lofts and length and launch and spin. If your old 5 iron goes 170 and new 7 iron goes 170 then what difference does it make what number they stamp on the bottom of it? As I said, as long as it doesn't create too big of a gap at the top or bottom of your bag, the loft of a "5" or a "7" doesn't matter. I used to have a set of clubs that just had the loft stamped on the bottom with no number designation like 3, 4, 5, etc. if you are looking for new clubs and find a set that gets you the distance and dispersion you need for your game, what difference does it make what the lofts are?S
So what? The original poster was quoting distance as a comparison and I made a point about lofts and the problem with using distance as a comparison point. Obviously newer irons launch higher and are better on off center hits but you don't magically gain 30 yards of distance because of those factors amirite?
