Kim did shoot a 65 yesterday, beat Kokrak, Mickelson, Swafford and Vincent for the week.
Apparently he hasn't been fit for clubs so he has no idea what his consistent numbers are. Also doesn't know how to use a Trackman nor was he aware of the drop height changing from shoulder to knee.
Legitimately seems like he didn't pick up a golf club for years. 65 on his 6th round back is amazing. I know LIV Hong Kong isn't the Masters but it's still professional golf and he improved significantly from his first tournament. Apparently he and other LIV guys are playing an Asian tour event this week to obtain OWGR points.

These guys can range all over the place in terms of equipment knowledge. Jim Furyk apparently had no idea what lie angle does. He asked the equipment guys why his divots were a little deeper on the toe side. They told him his irons were a little flat. So he had them bend them upright... and was surprised when he wasn't fading the ball the same way anymore. They had to bend them back.

Have watched 8/9 episodes. Some thoughts:

Rory's "I'm good enough to top 10 but not win, maybe I need to reboot" in the locker room after the PGA was really good. That's what I'm here for. For Rory honk's such as mysefl, one can only hope it has the same effect on Rory as Brooks displaying his misery on Full Swing did last year.
[*]JT's swipe at Mito at the PGA Champion's dinner was good, if odd.
[*]Thought they over played the LIV stuff with Brooks winning the PGA. The "this changes everything!" narrative didn't really happen in real life. I remember going into major season there was some wondering if a LIV player could win given the lack of reps/serious competition. Brooks answered that question but Netflix seemed to portray that it legitimized LIV and I don't really think that happened.
[*]Joel/Geno juxtaposed with Wyndham was good. Kinda wonder if they shoe-horned Wyndham in after he won the US Open. He wasn't really on the radar so I wouldn't have thought Netflix would choose to get Wyndham on record until he won.
[*]Maybe it's just me but the Fitzpatrick's don't do it for me. Matt seems like a nice guy and all but I think there are far more interesting stories on Tour.

what had me so interested was that I didn’t recall Alex’s run at the Open Championship so it was all new to me.
I can also appreciate the fact that he recognizes that his brothers success gives him opportunities but he’s trying to prove it “on his own” and he actually has some game and seems willing to work on it. Sort of the anti Jackson Mahomes

Yeah, I guess I wasn't the target for that episode. As soon as the episode started I remembered Alex had a good Open and knew where the episode was headed.
Rory -8 through 15 but wet on 7. Deep “where did it cross” situation unfolding between him, Spieth and Hovland.

I’ve watched the first couple hours of coverage so far and it seems like 95% of the shots they’re showing are putts.

Speith came across as kind of a jerk there. Rory said that he adamantly saw his tee shot hit above the red line. Hovland and Speith couldn't tell but Jordan said "the TV crew was sure" it landed below it and raised a pretty big stink. His quote:
"Everyone that I'm hearing that had eyes on it, which is again not what matters, is saying they're 100% certain it landed below the line," Spieth said. "That's all I'm saying."
Then why say it at all? That's out of line, in my opinion.

This probably played out like it should have with Rory checking with the rules official / broadcast team and since there was no video it's just going with what he saw in the first place. I kind of think Spieth was essentially doing the "hey, you absolutely sure about that" thing given he was hearing the chatter from the crowd about a different spot but probably pushes too much since, you know, he has no idea himself. Rory seemed fine with it post-round.

I remembered it how they portrayed it - the moment Brooks won the PGA was the moment the PGA tour lost all its leverage. If you can make 10x more money on LIV AND win majors to prove you rank among the best, what’s the point of the tour? The only chance they had was for these guys to either not be able to compete in majors or fail miserably in them and, unfortunately, none of that happened.
I didn't get this vibe at all. I think this was two Tour Pro's looking out for another Tour Pro about to create an embarrassing situation for themselves.
I was standing right there when it happened. No fans could see anything, TV couldn't see anything, Shotlink couldn't see anything. You could see his ball bounce but not where it hit at all. It's totally blind. Unless you had an overhead view of a camera over on 6 looking across the whole of 6 to 7 or one way down across the water on 7, there was no way to see it. Trackman didn't get a very good look either since it was a low snipe. Based on where I saw the ball bounce, it looked like his drop was about 10-20 yards back of where he could have dropped it.
Clark with an incredible second shot out of a horrific lie in the deep rough on the first hole. Somehow got it to within 3 feet.
I have watched this third round down in the Caribbean. I just realized I haven’t had a commercial all day? I am on ESPN live on the tv. That plus the leaders are on a 4.5 hour pace - has made this so enjoyable to watch.

Yeah I'm the first to shit on NBC but they've done an exemplary job today. Kiz is a great addition, and the drama builds so much when there's fewer commercial interruptions. Good shit all around.

World number one by a lot. For almost the entirety of the last year.

Seriously. I got Fubo recently to watch some NCAA baseball, and this is the first golf I have watched in over a year and a half. I turned it on just before the Schauffele's putt, so this was the second shot I had seen, and I just want to cry for the dude.
That Clark putt went 270 degrees around the cup. Entered at 6:00, spun clockwise and spun out at 3:00.
My group had Scheffler in our big pool so we had some clenched butt holes for a while as Harman, Schauffele, Clark all had looks on 17 and 18 with Clark being the only one to convert any of the 6 shots.

Scottie in his last 26 events has 4 wins, 17 top 5’s and 21 top 10’s, all while being a mediocre putter at best. Truly remarkable run.
His tee-to-green game has been so good over the past 2 years that Tiger is a legitimate comparable.
The putter was bad. Like almost worst on tour and he still top 5’d basically every week. This week was mediocre putting. 37th of 73 to make the cut. He was 30th in strokes gained putting today and still shot a 64. That’s all he needs to win. If he ever becomes above average, it’s over.
