I feel his career got derailed by the OF incident many moons ago.I like Teel. Athletic catcher although we were excited about Blake Swihart for the same reason.
I have had my eye on this kid all season. Very pumped he fell to 14.
Can't keep his helmet on because he has "slippery hair."
I didn’t think he’d fall out of the top 10. This is amazing especially given how horrible the catching depth is in the organization.Wow. I hadn't really spent much time looking into him or watching him, but reading about him now I've convinced it's a complete fucking steal after about 4 minutes.
Much better eye imhoOrioles take Bradfield Jr., whose best MLB comp at the moment is Jackie Bradley Jr. (seriously)
I feel like the organization's depth at catcher is good, but there is definitely a lack of high end catchers. A bunch of guys who could be MLBers someday, but I feel like this guy instantly blows them all out of the water, based off of the snippets I have read.I didn’t think he’d fall out of the top 10. This is amazing especially given how horrible the catching depth is in the organization.
Not that they were definitely going to do the same thing they did the past two years (draft a low-slot riser and spend money later), but enthused they were able to pivot on a clear top-10 talentTBH, I didn't even really look into Teel that much as I didn't think he'd be on the board. Have to imagine he costs full slot, but can't complain given the luck of getting a better player at a shallow position internally.
Giants once again doing the two way thing.
EDIT: That kid is 18? I would've guessed mid 20s at a minimum.
Please, we've got a million decent 2b prospects already so I'd love to see him stick at catcherCatcher to 2B.
Biggio.
I'm late to respond but I can't imagine they ever take a pitcher with a pick in the top 20. They are horrible bets. Some elite pitching prospects available?
With Teel and Mayer* both I’m glad they didn’t overthink it despite, I’m sure, doing more scouting of other players based on expectations of how the board would fall. I’m sure it can be easy to get a little narrow-minded as you fall in love with guys.TBH, I didn't even really look into Teel that much as I didn't think he'd be on the board. Have to imagine he costs full slot, but can't complain given the luck of getting a better player at a shallow position internally.
Feels like another Vandy guy, Tony Kemp. I don’t see him hitting at MLB level.Orioles take Bradfield Jr., whose best MLB comp at the moment is Jackie Bradley Jr. (seriously)
The Rays just picked a guy who looks exactly like every Rays player they've ever hadRays take Taylor, Jays take Nimmala. Hate seeing the division draft well
Hatfield doesn't think so:Wonder if they put Teel right in Greenville. The catching there is not strong.
Benintendi was probably more pro ready and he didn't start in A+. There is no downside to letting him get his feet wet in a relatively low pressure environment. I doubt they're planning on what happens if he languishes and becomes a MiLB free agent.
