9. NOP - Only $3M over the tax, their big 3 (Zion, McCollum & Ingram) can easily take them to the playoffs, I don't expect them to be sellers, though they might be opportunistic in acquiring assets
I'm pretty sure that NOP has never paid a penny of tax, and if they went over, not only would they have to pay the tax (pretty marginal) but they'd forego the payments to non-tax-paying teams, which was like $17.3M last year (much more important).

NOP could get rid of Kira Lewis and duck under the tax.

This article - https://www.nola.com/sports/pelicans/will-the-new-orleans-pelicans-pay-a-luxury-tax-next-season/article_4f804b2c-265c-11ee-abc1-67dedccc6190.html - suggests that ownership might go over the tax if they were actually contenders but that will definitely depend on how many games Zion is able to pay.

Phoenix sucks.

Pop might win 3-5 more titles if he can hang on that long.

I'm not writing them off quite yet. I don't know that the mix will have the defensive chops to win, but they should be able to put up points at very least.
Ironically, they remind me of the D’Antoni Suns. I never consider these kinds of teams who score but can’t defend a lick serious title threats.

That Suns team did get robbed one year though, and I think a dirty play on Nash. Long time ago, it’s fuzzy

Phoenix has been one of the better defensive teams in the league the past couple of years. Are we talking about the same team?

Wembayama with a nice dunk while completely hacked. The ref just stared at it and called nothing.

Some of the officials are soooo bad/blind, it's wild. Good thing they didn't go into radiology I guess.

That was a make-up for the prior foul call on KD v Wemby.

It was like they'd decided he'd gone to the line enough.

So then he says fuck it and just buries a bunch of jump shots.

5 games into his career, he already seems like a 4th quarter killer. In just over 37 minutes he's got 39 points on 19 shots. That's insane.
