If the standard for the amount of contact required for fouls was similar to what's being called in this Denver/GS game.. Tatum would shoot 30 FTs a game.

Warriors close to an epic choke here in the fourth against Denver. I think they were up 17 with 8 minutes to go in the fourth, and are now only up two with a minute left.

And Jokic hits a spectacular buzzer beater to win it. Denver closed on a 27-4 run.

I’m marking Jokic down half a grade for not giving the Warriors the “go to sleep” sign.

Haha, Jokic is 39-44 from the field in his last 4 games. That seems good.

I feel like the two consecutive games in December (v LAC and HOU) where Jokic went 18-58 from the floor must be the weirdest statistical anomaly of the season.

Brutal one. That kind of season for the Ws.

True, but despite the losses and the turmoil, have a sense they’re actually beginning to put it together. Wouldn’t be surprised if they put together a late season run like the Lakers did last year. Kerr is doing an interesting and tough balancing act keeping Wiggins and Thompson engaged but also integrating in some really good young players.

They'll have a chance once Draymond returns but this current group is tremendously mediocre with him unless it's a night when Curry goes full blown Curry.

What a ridiculous story to put out there. Is he a klutch client?
Agreed. Even by the standards of Shams/Woj this is some incredibly obvious water-carrying going on....agent appears to be Aaron Turner, who has a lot of clients though not really big ones. https://basketball.realgm.com/info/agent-client-list/Aaron-Turner/759

Would love for an interviewer to ask about this: "Steve Kerr, you played with Michael Jordan and Tim Duncan and coached Steph Curry. You won five championships as a player and four as a head coach. How concerned are you that Jonathan Kuminga has lost faith in you?"

The thing is, Turner/Kuminga should just cut out the middle man and go after Steph. But obviously they feel like that is too much of a career limiting move versus just going after one the highest profile coaches in the league.

As a side note, Kuminga may still develop into a good player but the typical path for someone with his profile is to toil for a few seasons as an understudy/rotational piece and then go get paid. It feels like some of these players who complain while still on rookie deals are getting bad advice but that's just my limited perspective. Maybe it helps but I haven't seen it - I actually wonder if it scares other teams away. Who wants a player who isn't really productive agitating to play all the time? Most teams already have plenty of those dudes.

I don't hate the Dubs, certainly not like I hate the Lakers, but I'm more than fine with a potential title contender melting down into chaos. The reality for the Dubs is that they blew the Wiseman pick and it's really tough to recover from that in addition to their other problems. And as is often the case in sports, a perfectly good coach will become the scapegoat.

The play here is for Kerr to give Kuminga a DNP-CD and when asked about it in the presser simply respond, "I lost faith in him."

I'm not one to defend Kerr but this is nuts. Podz is a 20-yr old rookie who is playing bc unlike Moody he's earned those prime minutes. Their last championship year, Poole at age 21 was 3rd in mpg. The one before that his second unit consisted of almost all rookies and 2nd yr players.

Moody and Kuminga have inconsistent playing time because they are inconsistent players. Warriors are a veteran team with title aspirations, they need to win games now and can't rely on players developing.

That KOC piece is yet another weird one in a career that has been mostly great but occasionally sees him venture out of his lane. He really goes at Kerr though and with purpose.

How much of an upgrade is Kuminga on Brissett? I don't watch enough Warriors to know.
A massive one with real upside (he's slightly bigger, 4 years younger and far more athletic than Brissett) if his 3 point shot ever gets going, but as HRB notes above, if he's not happy with his playing time in GS, he's really not gonna like it in Boston. That tweet just made me smile, actually acquiring Kuminga doesn't work from anyone's perspective (Boston, GS or Kuminga).

there's a million examples of plays like this that people post on Reddit to the point that it makes me think his teammates are purposely freezing him out for reasons I can only guess at.

Kerr has no interest in developing young players (or doesn’t know how) and is just waiting for Draymond to come back so they can try and make a run in the second half.

hard to imagine they deal Murray for him, but Huerter and a pick might both meet Toronto’s apparent desire not to bottom out and win the bidding for Siakam

Yeah, Champagnie has one of the worst Assist rates in the NBA for guards/wings after doing same at St John's. That isn't him freezing Wemby out it's Champagnie lacking a critical NBA skill. When I see Sochan running the offense it feels similar but at least he tries to initiate he just isn't very good at it.

Very happy that I don't have to watch Beverley play every game.. guy complains after every play..even the plays where it's 100% obvious he absolutely hacked the crap out of the other player.

Edit: he's also one of the top ten case studies showing that the NBA point of emphasis regarding flopping has made no change at all.. and is no longer enforced.

Embiid stays in when down 30 until he extends his steak of 30-10 games and then immediately comes out.

Little did I realize, a few weeks back, that I was attending a dress rehearsal for the NBA Championships this year.

The Clippers wallop the Pels in NOLA.

Harden (& HRB) have the receipts ;)

what says @ElUno20 ?
