Well, the "Locker Room" more or less ran Coach Bud out of town, and MIL made the Jrue for Dame move because the "Locker Room" wouldn't sign an extension until they "upgraded" plus the "Locker Room" didn't want Nurse, who has a ring last I checked and the "Locker Room" won't set picks for Dame in any meaningful way.

So maybe the "Locker Room" might want to think about its outsized influence on MIL's decisions.
I don’t get this take like at all. What does Bud have to do with Griffin being the nightmare that other organizations were afraid he would become. He came in and tried to change their defensive scheme to HIS liking without taking into account his personnel OR who really runs teams in this league. He lasted what, two months, before they felt a need to bring in assistance after his top assistant walked out on him.

He's saying that Giannis ran Bud out of town and Giannis was the one who really wanted Griffin to be the Coach...Giannis was also the one squawking all offseason about not signing a contract extension until the Jrue for Dame trade.

So, Griffin did become a nightmare but it was self inflicted because that's the coach that Giannis stumped for

Simmons made an updated trade value list and video:

https://nbarankings.theringer.com/

View: https://youtu.be/QDmx7ej9IVM?si=ae0hnZkfO2QuSoPC

Celtics: Holiday at 63, Porzingis at 56, White at 47, Brown at 38, Tatum at 6.

The main thing I was curious about with this list was how many guys were above Wemby. Just three (Jokic, Giannis and Luka), with four just behind in the same category (SGA, Tatum, Edwards, Banchero). I wonder where Embiid would've ranked if he'd pulled this together two weeks ago, right after the 70 point game (he was 12th on this list).
I am listening to that pod and, man, maybe I am just late on the Alex Caruso train or maybe I am missing something but I don't think there's anyway that Caruso is close to Jrue in trade value, let alone ahead of him.

Well it is Giannis’ team so they do need to involve him in these decisions. It was still a massive failure brought on by Griffin who could have used a guy like Stotts to help him….instead of running him out of town and embarassing himself in front of the entire team for his actions with Stotts.

So yeah maybe Giannis sucks at picking coaches…..but Griffin did this to himself.

Griffin did it to himself, but he shouldn't have even been hired. Giannis was the conductor on the, "anyone but Nick Nurse" train. The Bucks got down to Nurse, Atkinson, and Griffin...and Giannis vetoed the only guy with a ring. For a guy that only wants to win, it was a weird power move.

Caruso is almost 4 years younger, and makes 1/4 the money. Those two are definitely pretty close in value when you factor those two things in

Caruso has also never averaged 10 points a game in a season and his highest FGA per game (this year) is barely higher than Jrue's lowest (his rookie year).

I'm not sure there are many teams in the NBA out there where he would be anything better than a 4th option on offense.

I get the age and contract, but I think Jrue is head and shoulders above him as an actual player.

Legitimate question: if Caruso gets traded before the deadline do you think the package will exceed what Boston gave up to get Jrue? I would be pretty surprised if that was the case.

Sixers are bad without Embiid. Maxey really gets exposed, especially on D, without him.

They were without much more than Embiid tonight. That team is decimated with injuries. Batum, House, Morris, Covington and Melton were also out. They’ve now lost 7 of 8 with no end in sight and their entire deep bench now in their rotation.

Curry opening salvo in Indy 6-6 from 3, 18 points in 9 minutes. Kerr sits him after 9 — probably wisely given he’s almost 36 and on a road segababa, 5th game in 7 nights.

Literally no picks or assets looking forward—this Milwaukee roster needs to make it work or else, in the immortal words of Rocco Graziosa, “I guess this is going to fail”,

Funny that Luka had to put in 40 minutes to beat a team led by Donte DiVincenzo. Every Knick that goes down means Thibs drives the dwindling survivors that much harder... most of these injuries are random luck things, but still, he won't play scrubs (that weren't on the 2011 Bulls) even in hopeless efforts

Dame and Middleton are out and its February 8th. This game counts but it kind of doesn't.
It counts because they fired their coach and are 1-5 with the new big name. Their schedule is brutal right now and guys are missing time, but they've got a shiny new coach and Giannis is still playing (very hard too, averaging 34 points shooting .637 from the floor before tonight under Doc). They're lucky that the Sixers and Knicks are missing half their rotations, otherwise they'd be in danger of tumbling out of the top 4. They desperately need some good vibes.

When does Giannis ask for Doc’s head?

what a terrible looking team right now
Most of the team is out injured. They have Crowder and Connaughton playing 40 minutes tonight lol. Everyone likes to pick on the HOF Coach but Auerbach would be losing with the lineup.

BOS beat CLE twice back to back in mid-December, since then CLE is 21-4.

I believe Budenholzer is signed through the end of next year (with Griffin and Doc through 2027), there's just no damn way they can fire Doc before summer 2025 (even with an angry Giannis, they just can't pay 4 HCs at the same time). I feel like there's not much chance Doc takes a negotiated buyout for pennies on the dollar either, this is likely to be his last HC job and without the ability to double dip, I gotta think he wants every cent of that $40M coming his way.

Happy that any playoff run would be one max of DEN/LAC (OKC/MIN dark horses pending LAC injury luck). Denver is hitting its stride.

Bucks down another half point in net rating, +3.0 now, good for 11th in the league. Still a large gap to the next group though at +1.3.

And Golden State is just 6-4 in those 10 games
What does Klay’s corpse have to do with Draymond’s impact?

To add context. The Warriors lost that first game in Memphis w Draymond coming off the bench. The other 3 losses were by 1-pt and two OT losses. End of game possessions determined whether they were 6-4 or 9-1 (or in between). Maybe the Warriors need to find a closer? ;)

Their record in close games (2-9 in games decided by 3 points or less!) is remarkable considering they have Steph Curry.

They were overdue for this, but the last 10 games has been an incredibly soft schedule for them. Yesterday's win over Indy was their first against a decent team. The other five were over Atlanta, Memphis, Brooklyn, and two over Philly (once without Embiid, once with a severely limited Embiid). Losses to Memphis, Sacramento, Atlanta and the Lakers, so really just three games against teams over .500 in their last 10 (and the Lakers barely clear that bar). It's about to get a lot tougher - in their next 12 games, they play Denver, Boston, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Knicks, Lakers and the Clippers, plus two against Utah, their most direct rival for a play in spot.

I think it's more likely than not they grab a play in spot with Draymond behaving and Kuminga breaking out (they shouldn't need Klay to pull his weight to finish 10th), but we'll know a lot 4 weeks from now. They cannot survive a Steph injury.

Soft schedule or no, the Warriors with the Steph-Wiggs-Kuminga-Green core four (take your pick of starter #5 — I’d go Podziemski or Moody) have been night and day better than their early season selves.

And now we have Gui Santos — 6-8 manchild who shoots, handles, rebounds, and plays with his hair on fire — samba-ing out of Santa Cruz to add to the fun.

Color me super relieved the trade deadline passed with none of the Warriors young core going anywhere. The only move Dunleavy made was to dump Cory Joseph for a second-rounder, to free up a roster spot that will likely be filled by young Lester Quiñones. All fine by me —the kids have been crushing it this season. And Steph and Dray seem to be enjoying it as much as the fans are.

This is on end of a back-to-back with AD only playing 12 minutes due to foul trouble.

Where was this versus Denver?

The 76ers are 1-8 over their last 9 games.

They go into Washington tonight, then play 6 straight games against the EC elite

They could be the 8 seed by March with no Embiid in sight, just seems like yesterday when they were leading the NBA in net diff.

On the bright side of things, it confirms Embiid's MVP status from last season.

I just looked at their schedule through March. They're going to finish under .500

So why did Philly just hand over Pat Beverly to the Bucks on a silver platter, again? I hate it.
