I don’t know. I think the shtick is all he’s got and that’s actually why he’s on ESPN so much. Way back when he was just starting on the WWL, he had the same shtick. It’s the only reason he was noteworthy.
siakam pushes embiid, who is like 300 pounds, lightly on the thigh and embiid delayed reaction falls back a few steps as if hes been attacked.
I used to like Embid but he is hard to root for at this point. Just flops and complains all the time.
I was just thinking the same thing. I used to like him. I kind of want to like him. But he makes it really, really hard.

Toronto just so flat for this game. Really surprised that Nurse basically had no plan on defense and didn’t adjust at all. With Barnes now hobbled this series could be over quick.

Dragging them to 48 wins is very impressive, I agree, even with the likely 1st round exit.
Without Jokic, this squad is on the short list competing for worst teams in the NBA.
I watched a lot of NBA today and something I noticed, perhaps for the first time, was how much the announcers talk about the workouts of individual star players, as if it's some incredible feat that elite NBA players do a lot of physical conditioning. "Steph Curry does pushups with a 30lb plate on his back!" Like, wow that's cool I guess.
Aaron Gordon is just another guy. What a terrible overpay. I thought I was a fan and wanted Boston to make a move for him a couple years back. Oof
He inexplicably went after Draymond twice on the same possession, with predictable results. And was never really heard from again.
It’s interesting, cos he has some of the same nominal skillset as Dray — athletic 4 who can guard the rim, switch onto smalls, and handle/pass, with a three ball that’s iffy but less so than Draymond’s. Taller and more athletic than Dray, too. And … that’s where you realize how much mindset matters in hoops.
He’s definitely going to need to step up and start playing like the team’s 2nd best player (in the absence of Murray and MPJ) for the Nuggets to have any chance of making this a series.

Gordon would be fine in the role he was acquired for; which was to be a larger-wing defender that would at best, be a fourth option on offense just setting screens and cutting to the basket. It seems cruel to be hard on any Nuggets player at the moment given they are all miscast in larger roles than they really should be with Murray and MPJ out.
Gordon just had a run of like 7-8 straight 20-pt games to end the season. He was invisible last night just as he was last year when Phoenix ran over them in 4. He seems like the poster child for how regular season numbers don’t translate when playoff defense ramps up.
The role you describe would have - and still would be - his role on the Cs if DA had managed to get him instead of Founier. And I agree that's a perfect role for Gordon.
It's amazing that an uber-athletic guy like Gordon really didn't develop his offensive game further. Kind of puts Jaylen in an even better light given how far he's come.
Aaron Gordon should be a switchy, physical defender on D and a PnR savant on offense, but he doesn't see himself that way.
He has always struck me as a guy that wants to go ISO, back his guy down, for a challenged mid-range turnaround banker... YUCK!
Always been a hard pass at his price in assets + salary. I'd rather go for a more cost-effective player like Kyle Anderson
(Raptors fan here, sorry) - I am also surprised that they let Maxey torch them again, he nearly won the last regular season matchup between TOR-PHI all by himself. TOR seemed cooked early on when Van Vleet took a couple of needless fouls. If Barnes is out, it is time for the rest of the East to start planning to face Philly in round 2.
The Celtics chose poorly.
Toronto was flat as hell. Instead of the active, aggressive ball hawks they looked like at the end of the season, they looked like the team that edged out the Kornet/Hauser Celtics
We don’t know for certain why they choose the route they did.
I like the Raptors a lot to bounce back in G2.
TOR feasts on deflections and transition points. The 76ers had (if I reading the box score correctly or there is no typo) 3 TOs and 4 pts off TO. Wow, just 3? TOR can't score enough in the half court to win unless they can get 10+ points off TOs.
2 of their 3 turnovers occurred in the last 4 minutes, when the game was long since over. I don't believe I've ever seen a team do a better job of controlling the ball than Phily yesterday.
