More like a statement loss for the Warriors. They’re a first round exit without Draymond.Statement win for the Lakers.
It’s been discussed in another thread. The Spurs are loaded with their own young wings so their are no minutes for the new guys who don’t have any role there.I didn't realize until tonight that Romeo Langford hadn't played a game yet for the Spurs and Josh Richardson had only played four. And neither played tonight as well.
Both teams have been hurt by injuries. The Cavs were able to withstand the Sexton loss bc it only opened up a larger role for Rubio who was arguably a better fit with his playmaking and defensive versatility……but then when he went down now the Cavs end up with Brandon Goodwin and Rondo as key rotation pieces. You can get away with one but both is a tough one to overcome.the Bulls also got a little screwed by injuries this year with Caruso, Lonz, Patrick Williams
CAVs look really beatable. Boston should have swept them this season (the Jabari game cost us)
It’s definitely not clear from context but pretty sure he means Draymond.Who?
By my count Phoenix is 11-16 from the field so far this quarter, and they've only outscored the Bucks by 2. Crazy.Bucks Suns game is another great one, both teams shooting lights out. Tied at 113 halfway through the 4th. Suns playing with out Booker, Paul and Cam Johnson.
And then the Suns go cold down the stretch.By my count Phoenix is 11-16 from the field so far this quarter, and they've only outscored the Bucks by 2. Crazy.
Lol yes sorry. Forgot to stick around after cryptic post. It’s definitely not clear from context but pretty sure he means Draymond.
Good chance for the Knicks to catch the Clips sleeping following their Laker win and a 6-0 stretch with Warriors coming up on Tuesday. It's amazing how many Knicks games are nationally televised. Second half of the ESPN doubleheader coming up!
...which is another way of saying the guy was a disappointment in Boston and well down the road to being out of the league in a year or so. If he was better than what SA had, he'd be playing. Pop or whoever else is making deals there is a miracle worker if they deal him off to someone else for anything of value. It’s been discussed in another thread. I hated that pick when Miami drafted him because it seemed obvious to me he'd end up a good player.Precious Achiuwa reminds me of a very young Siakam…..and I loved me some very young Siakam. This kid may blow up next year.
Can anyone explain why SA got rid of Derrick White?...which is another way of saying the guy was a disappointment in Boston and well down the road to being out of the league in a year or so. They wanted to free up cap space at the end of 22/23? No idea. You'd think they'd be playing Richardson for no other reason than to trade him in the offseason. He has to have some value, right? Can anyone explain why SA got rid of Derrick White?
the same reason they aren't playing the wings they got back, they're stacked there, and he makes a good amount of money, and his fit wasn't always great for what they were doing, he fit in BOS better. White and Murray were an either/or situation to them I think, they waited to see which one broke out offensively and traded the other. Can anyone explain why SA got rid of Derrick White?
I have a hard time believing a player with Romeo’s size, physical skills and improved shooting is out of the league anytime soon barring a career ending injury or he mysteriously stops working. It’s just not happening....which is another way of saying the guy was a disappointment in Boston and well down the road to being out of the league in a year or so. With rosters at 15+2, yeah. The C's would be in on him if he were available for nothing/league minimum.I have a hard time believing a player with Romeo’s size, physical skills and improved shooting is out of the league anytime soon barring a career ending injury or he mysteriously stops working. Vassell and Walker are both out tonight though. He likely wasn’t getting a shot without those absences. But, to his credit, he’s making the most of his opportunity tonight so good for him.Romeo is currently 3-3 with good defense in 10 minutes tonight. So he might get a shot.
Romeo will probably turn an ankle in this game and not be seen for another two weeksRomeo is currently 3-3 with good defense in 10 minutes tonight. So he might get a shot.
I think this article put it best: https://airalamo.com/posts/why-san-antonio-spurs-ran-out-patience-derrick-white. Murray became SAS's #1; White was a good player but he wasn't able to become a second option; they have Vassell and Primo on rookie contracts; and their timeline isn't anywhere in the next couple of years, which means White was pretty much not really going to move the needle for themCan anyone explain why SA got rid of Derrick White?
Denver is the team I'd watch in that group, 9-1 in their last 10 and with Murray and Porter both supposedly coming back still.Y'all buying or selling on Mavs? They seem to be the Western Conference version of the Celtics. 22-7, 2nd best defense, 3rd best net rating since 1/1. Slow start but they're on a roll.
Jokic is unreal. You can make a case for this season as one of the greatest statistically of all time.Moses Moody and Poole combine for 62 points, but Denver survives thanks to 32-15-13 on 12/17 shooting from Jokic. Jokic is just on another level right now; he's such a fabulously gifted offensive player; he can literally be an entire offense by himself. We've seen a lot of guys who can score a ton and also pass at an elite-level, but I don't think of anyone that could do that while scoring on the block the way he does. He has a consistency and efficiency to his game that allows him to basically do whatever he wants on offense. He can post guys up and has such a soft touch around the rim, and if you double him you are totally fucked because he'll always make the right pass out of the double team.
Before Jokic, the latest-draft pick to win MVP was Steve Nash/Giannis at #15 overall.Jokic is unreal. You can make a case for this season as one of the greatest statistically of all time.
(per 36)
28.1 points on .656 true shooting
15.0 rebounds
8.8 assists
+9.3 on court
+16.7 net on-off
By advanced stats (RAPTOR, RPM, etc.) he's basically lapping the field — incredible as Embiid and Giannis have also been.
I guess the moral of the story is to take your #41 picks seriously? Players drafted ahead of him include Mitch McGary, Jordan Adams, Cleanthony Early, Damien Inglis, and Jarnell Stokes; and the three guys picked after him are Nick Johnson, Edy Tavares, and Markel Brown.
You can still get plus money on Jokic MVP as Embiid is currently priced as a decent sized favorite.Jokic is unreal. You can make a case for this season as one of the greatest statistically of all time.

Cheating a bit, but Moses Malone was drafted in the 3rd round in the ABA draftBefore Jokic, the latest-draft pick to win MVP was Steve Nash/Giannis at #15 overall.
Eh… seems like a waste of money to me, unless the stat nerds have gained significantly more influence over the vote than in years past? My guess is that mild East Coast / big market bias, together with the “spread it around” dictum (that jobbed MJ and LeBron out of multiple MVPs) is going to overwhelm Jokic’s advantage in advanced stats. And honestly, Embiid has been amazing enough that with the Sixers now closing strong, I have zero issue with him getting it.You can still get plus money on Jokic MVP as Embiid is currently priced as a decent sized favorite.
Yeah, he had signed his letter of intent to attend college so no ABA team wanted to waste a higher pick on a guy who hadn’t appeared to have a chance to play with them. As (I think) you’re implying, this had nothing to do with Malone’s ability at the time. This was back when teams didn’t know if they’d even be in existence at the end of the season lol.Cheating a bit, but Moses Malone was drafted in the 3rd round in the ABA draft
