The thing about Cole is he has the pedigree (first overall in the draft), he is still 29, and he couldn't be more dominant right now. 8/240 might be high, but as E5 said, it's going to be a metric fuck-ton.

Pierzynski's first reaction to the Adames error was 'he did everything right'. HE DID LIKE FOUR THINGS WRONG! He bobbled the ball, rushed the throw, bounced the ball short and to the side giving Choi an almost impossible play. If you mean he didn't hike down his pants mid-play and take a literal shit on the ball before throwing it over, then yes, he did everything right.

I still can’t believe what a Cerberus the Astros have. Verlander, Cole, Greinke. Shades of Odom, Blue, Hunter.

For context, the lowest ERA+ of these three? 154. Only one team since 1871, to have all of said pitchers exclusive start, has done better: 1898 Orphans.

75 Reds are just before my time, I think the best teams of my lifetime have been 98 Yankees, 86 Mets, 2018 Red Sox, I think in that order. These Astros definitely could end up in there somewhere.

Agree. I can’t recall a better one in my lifetime. Can’t recall reading about a better one from yours (‘67?).

Of teams/leagues MLB actually recognizes (so no UA, NA), umm, 1880 White Stockings? Maybe? Vastly different game, won’t pretend otherwise.
