Worlds End
Tuning in to watch the Bronze Medal game must say it is disappointing to see the support in the stands from the Buffalo fans or lack thereof.
I'd pin that more on the powers that be in charge of putting this thing together than anything else. A 4pm medal game on a weekday is ridiculous. Both these games could have been prime time saturday afternoon/evening. Also, they made a stupid decision to try and package tickets around the outdoor game, and they are just too expensive. If they want to try and sell out 15k seat arenas, these tickets should be $15-20. Its a fantastic product, and a great way to grow the game, but only diehard hockey fans will pony up $50 to watch 18 year olds play hockey. The same thing happens (more or less) every year.

Canada scored the winner with less than 2 minutes left in the game and then added an empty netter to win the game 3-1 and capture the Gold in a very exciting game.

5 power plays to 1?

6 now I guess, but....
In my opinion they were all deserved and most of them were bad penalties. In fact on the final penalty, they could have added another on the two handed slash that came before the roughing penalty. Anyway the 16,000 Canadians had better be careful of being breathalysed going back across the border.

Drake Batherson lives just a few miles away from me here in Nova Scotia, I have watched him play since Bantam. He has quite the underdog story. He didn't make Major Jr, after graduating from Major Midget, he played on the fourth line in Tier 2 Jr. A before making the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the Q in his next year of Jr, as a free agent. He wasn't invited to Team Canada's Summer Evaluation Camp but was invited to the final tryouts before Christmas after a strong 1st half this year in the Q but wasn't expected to make the team. He had never played for a National team before this tournament Yet he finishes as Canada's leading goal scorer in the tournament.

It says something about the depth of the Canadian ream that only 1 player made the All Star team and none were named at the Top of their position. Their leading point getter was tied for 9th in scoring. Yet they outscored their opposition in the tournament 39- 10. The winning goal scored by Steenbergen was his first in the tournament.

I do hope whoever caught Andersson's medal makes sure he gets it back.

I think they said Andersson got his medal back. I felt like Sweden outplayed us for the most part and we were somewhat lucky to come away with that win.

Either their PK was great or our PP was poor today. I'm going with the latter.

But, starting the year with a gold medal always lifts my spirits.

That’s very true, but that’s a big reason I’m excited. Who knows. Also the Russia thing. Very up in the air.
