His brothers fell from the Lavar Tree, they are awful. Lonzo seems like a good kid, it’s a shame.Lonzo isn't bad at all. I feel bad for his brothers though as rapping may be their best shot at a payday.

And Pat Riley and the Lakers. It worked for Phil Jackson and the Bulls!
Is there a coaching option that gets them over the top? Maybe Brad Stevens.Looks like Toronto is taking the safe option and hiring in-house. I know that Nurse is an up-and-coming coaching prospect but is this really the thing that gets them over the top in the East?
The Toronto Raptors are hiring assistant Nick Nurse as the franchise's new head coach, league sources tell ESPN. Sides are working through details of contract now.
Probably not, but that just shows that firing Casey didn't really solve anything. They need to revamp that team, not make a lateral coaching change. Is there a coaching option that gets them over the top? Maybe Brad Stevens.
That’s a tweet from 2011

The Spurs may have a deal with Indiana for Kawhi Leonard, sources say."
How long is the helicopter flight from Akron to Indy?
Uh...7 years?

They've had 7 years to disconfirm... and yet, what? Nothing. It could still happen. Woj playing the long game.
Well, that deal *did* happen. Pacers drafted Kawhi. They've had 7 years to disconfirm... and yet, what? Nothing.
Seems like where there's smoke...
So it's all true!!Well, that deal *did* happen. Pacers drafted Kawhi.
Rudy Gay has a terrible agent. He turned down a $14MM option from the Kings to sign with the Spurs for $8.4MM. Now he is turning down is $8.8MM option for next year and I doubt he gets anything close to that on the open market.Rudy Gay declined his player option to return to the Spurs.
You are not painting the complete scenario in Sacramento. Gay publicly stated that he was going to decline his $14m option prior to the start of the season when he tore his Achilles. He knew he'd take a hit for the opportunity in San Antonio as the Kings still wanted him back on a long-term deal once he declined......which he refused. In another example of a player overestimating his worth, Jamal Crawford turned down his $4.5MM option with the Wolves to become a free agent. He seems like a veteran min guy to me. Maybe he wants a shot at a title.
Gay only got the MLE last summer and then had a very subpar year. I was imagining the market being even worse for him this summer, but maybe I'm overestimating the effect of the lack of cap space out there. I could see the lower tax payer's figure for him, but he doesn't strike me as a full MLE guy anymore. He barely put up 20MPG last year on a team that was starving for solid wing minutes after Simmons departed and Kawhi got injured. You are not painting the complete scenario in Sacramento. I don't see why Gay would exercise a one-year option with $8.8m guaranteed when he'll surely sign one with multiple guaranteed years even if it's the MLE. This is key rotation FA type money......why would you feel he will be shut out of this market?
I don't see how he was subpar as he was at essentially his career numbers, He shot poorly from 3 but higher from 2 and had the best rebounding numbers of his career. I think we all know what Gay is by now......a first/second guy off your bench. The only Spur who played more than 26.7 mpg was LMA and when eliminating Kawhi they has 8 players between 19 and 26.7 mpg. With Pop's 10-man rotation I don't know why you'd expect your backup wing to exceed 21 a game.Gay only got the MLE last summer and then had a very subpar year. Jordan isn't concerned with winning, he wants to save money. This gets him under the luxury tax.Wow. I know Howard is poison, but when your traded for a 31 year old who has never scored more then 11 ppg in his career and averaged less then 12 mins per game the previous season you have fallen. Hard.
Hard to believe that he has a 99% chance (according to BBRef) of making the HoF. But I guess the NBA HoF is a different animal and he was stellar until about 27
Howard helps them win? The NBA is first and foremost a business. This trade accomplishes one of Kupchak's several objectives this summer by avoiding the luxury tax. Also important is adding a couple cheap 2nd rounders from Brooklyn.Jordan isn't concerned with winning, he wants to save money. This gets him under the luxury tax.
Yes he was.Wasn’t Kupchak the one who gave Mozgov his current deal when he was running the Lakers in the first place?
Cavs traded two first rounds pick for him as well during Lebron’s first season back in Cleveland.Mozgov was also the big sticking point in the Melo Nuggets to Knicks deal. He's had a weird and lucrative career for someone who doesn't play.
I guess you can take Brooklyn off the list of teams in the FA market this summer. The NBAPA might re-name the summer of 2018 Nuclear Winter.Adrian WojnarowskiVerified account @wojespn 2m2 minutes ago
Charlotte is finalizing a deal to send Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets for Timofey Mozgov, league sources tell ESPN. Nets will save $17M on deal in 2019-20 season, allowing them to create two max salary slots.
Some of the "We have to get rid of Smart at any cost!!!" crowd used to claim that the Nets would be all in on Smart, despite already having a taller/longer version of the same player. But it was never very convincing given that the Nets already have two jack-of-all-trades type players (and pretty good ones at that) and value good three point shooting above all else.Wasn't Brooklyn a supposed suitor for Smart?
I guess it depends on how well their tank season goes next year. Because landing the first pick would open a lot of doors for them in the free agent recruiting game (at that point I'd be officially worried about Boston losing Kyrie to a Durant/Irving/3rd star Brooklyn super team)Who does anyone expect Brooklyn to lure with the two max slots next year? They'll end up with Kemba Walker and Harrison Barnes, and be good enough to miss out on the playoffs but not fall to the bottom of the lottery.
Why is Charlotte doing this?Timofey Mozgov makes 17 mil for the next two years. What a country.
I'm not suggesting the trade is bad idea, but if the strategy is to convince Kevin Durant to set up shop on a team where he probably can't name the current head coach or anyone on the roster, they might want to have plan B ready.I guess it depends on how well their tank season goes next year. Yeah, but they'd have room for two max guys (he and Kyrie are friends, hence my worry about them landing #1) and in the scenario where they land #1, the ability to trade for a third star.I'm not suggesting the trade is bad idea, but if the strategy is to convince Kevin Durant to set up shop on a team where he probably can't name the current head coach or anyone on the roster, they might want to have plan B ready.
He's my binky. Active, moves well, nice lefty game. In the right situation (under Brad) he'd be a nice addition. Baynes/O'Quinn/Theis/Horford rotating at the 5 would work.Kyle O’Quinn opting out. I covet him as a David West / Zaza replacement, if the Ws can make the numbers work. Seems like a good fit on the Cs, too.
You guys have probably watched him more than I have — is he as good as his per minute numbers suggest?
When they had Baynes/Theis/Horford, last season, it seemed like they were short a big man hence the signing of Monroe. An active O'Quinn fits better in the Celtics system then a lanky, slow-footed BIG like Monroe. You aren't getting both Baynes and O'Quinn
Isn’t moops saying that we won’t be able to sign both and not necessarily that we don’t need them both? We only got Monroe because we had the DPE due to Hayward. When they had Baynes/Theis/Horford, last season, it seemed like they were short a big man hence the signing of Monroe. The roster is far from set, suspect there will be several moving pieces, openings.
