Media guys hear bits and pieces from different parties, impossible to know the deal. Chicago's best offer could have been 3, 16, Bk17, Bradley and Crowder.

Seems pretty obvious all the Dunn talk was just made by Ainge and company to get offers from Bulls and Sixers. They never intended to take him at all. Brown always the guy.

Thibs might not like butler
I don't believe Ainge ever intended on drafting Dunn to play for the Celtics though. He was the chip for a team looking for a PG to run their team.

If Minnesota ends up trading for Butler, Wyc better hope he's out of the draft party building because there is going to be a revolt

I'm sorry Phillys offer was awful. We can get a Covington type player in the 2nd round and the picks were useless. Noel is maybe worth 16 or 23. And I don't have a direct source but Chicago was not offering Butler according to a friend who works for the Tribune.

I like Noel a lot more than most here. For Zenter's sake, I'll refrain from rehashing a debate about his value.

Wyc Grousbeck still touting #Celtics desire to add TWO max free agents. He's on @985TheSportsHub now.
LOLOLOL. yeah, right

honestly, this was a two player draft at most. C's were screwed from night the lottery happened. Dunn/Brown/Hield et al are not likely to be all-stars and more likely to be rotation players. I mean Dunn is old and disappeared a lot (injury to blame or not). he also had another first rounder on his team yet pundits always say his talent arond him hurt him. Maybe, but he is far from a lock starter on a good team.

Marquiss Criss to Suns in trade

Robert Covington is not a "solid 3&D wing," he just may have looked like that playing on a historically terrible team.

Wyc gets REALLY fired up on draft night and pretty much loses his mind. Don't know if you were around a decade ago but I sent him an email blasting him and he responded by blasting me back. I woke up the next morning with an apology and 4 club seats for us at a game that he sent to my Dad with a nice letter.

That paints you into a corner, though. I'm disappointed at the (apparent) lack of a deal, but if Noel and the back of the first round was the best they were offered, no thanks.

Not only awful....but God-awful! You move 4 years of a high upside rookie for 1 year of a high upside young veteran who you have to spend $100m next summer to retain......puke. Covington is a JAG, nothing more.

I'd rather do that than draft Brown. Anything could happen, but Brown is a big dog to be a good NBA player from where I sit.
Brown is going to be the "stats vs scout/upside" poster boy for the next few years. He doesn't project well with a lot of computer models, so someone's gonna get to throw out a lot of "told you so's".

Anyone else notice how ESPN is showing almost no clips of these players as they are drafted? It's just one talking head after another, which is fine, but can't they have the talking head, while showing us some clips of these guys actually playing basketball.

I said it in another thread, but I feel like in a few years, people will look back at the Dunn non-pick as the one that got away. I'm obviously a biased Friar alum, but I truly believe the kid is the real deal, and he is going to absolutely thrive surrounded by the young studs in Minnesota. Don't know much about Brown, so can't really speak to how good or bad that pick is, but really disappointed it wasn't Dunn. And I always thought if they didn't go for Dunn, there had to be a trade out there that made more sense than basically anyone else in the draft at No. 3. Oh well.
