Picking up right where he left off after his 3 putt on 17 yesterday, Bubba putts from a couple yards onto the fringe and the ball barely stops on the green. He'll have a 15 footer for par.

To be fair, he put the ball in about as awful a position as you can while still being 10 yards from the hole. Had about 4 yards of fringe and green sloping upwards followed by a sharp downslope. Chipping there even a little bit too hard and that ball is probably going 25-30 feet past the hole.

Not sure I get the DeChambeau hate here. Kid is playing a heck of a round...is it the hat?
No hate. I'll admit I tend to react negatively to the new shiny toys being shoved down my throat. That said, DeChambeau's play at the US Amateur was so slow it drove me nuts. Glad to see he's not repeating that atrocity.

Also his name is a pita to type. Point Na.

Just took Brendan Grace 3 tries to get over the the slope on the front of the 6th...tough going early for everyone really. Not a lot of low numbers so far (obviously not too many top 20 players that have gone out yet either, but still).

Promising start for Rory (2 birdies in the first 3 holes) is derailed by a double on5 where he landed in the front right trap and then 3 putted from 20 feet...Lee is holding on at -4 under, and Day is fighting off some nagging injuries to stay close, but someones got to make a move today or we might see Spieth 4-5 strokes clear of the field by day's end. Obviously still a ton of golf to be played (I've got my eye on Rose especially)

Also, the par 3's have been BRUTAL today. A number of double bogeys at #3 and #6.

Now it's time for my annual complaint about how the Masters does the coverage. So Rory was a featured group player yesterday, but he played in the afternoon, so you could just watch him on TV. Why make him the feature? Because he was featured yesterday, he couldn't be today, so basically you can't see his round. Poor choices, poor decisions.

It definitely doesn't help that 3/6 of the featured group players are out of it (Els, Grace, Bubba). Kuchar and Poulter are I guess kind of in it, but Day is really the only guy worth watching

It is what it is. This how the old farts in green jackets want it, everyone lusting for more.

Spieth adn Dechambeau birdie 1 after only on of the previous 60+ players did...maybe the conditions are calming down a bit (or one player got lucky and the other is playing out of his mind...I guess we'll see?)

Spieth sticks it to 2 feet on the 3rd, will move to -8 and 5 strokes clear of the field. He's ripping this course apart.

These announcers are definitely far from anything special. In their defense, it seems like they are calling this basically on their own with little to no production help, and the guys the 6 guys they are forced to cover are a combined 45 over par.

Course looks brutally hard today. Possible that there will only be 3-5 rounds under par when the day is done. I bet not many guys finish the week under par, it could be a bloodbath to the finish.

Also, Els is playing a very solid round today. Cool to see. He still hits the ball so nicely.

Beating a dead horse, but the Amen Corner coverage has been footage of Tom Watson standing and walking for 10 goddamn minutes. Just show me as many shots as possible- is that too much to ask?

The ESPN coverage pretty much showed the same thing. Except for their obsession with Rochambeau.

So if Rory ends up T2, how do they decide the pairings for tomorrow? I so desperately want to see him v. Spieth mano a mano for 36 holes.
