I played Southers Marsh in Plymouth a few weeks ago. Nice little executive course if you're looking for a quick 18. 7 par 4's, 11 par 3's that weaves through cranberry bogs.

Real wild card is the wind, which was a huge factor today
Yeah it is usually pretty gusty up there. Nice to hear that the course is in good shape, I need to start trying to get in 9 before or after work there .PedroSpecialK said:Sitting in the bar at Green Hill in Worcester. Son of a bitch, let me see if I can find a car for that day. I will let you know tomorrow.PedroSpecialK said:RMPS golf bash for all inclined - tentatively scheduled for 7/25, but if we can't get more than a foursome we can try in early August as well.
They had a special for Duke's card members so we are playing Spanish Bay for $105 each (normally $325) Spyglass for $125 (normally $425) and I had two free rounds at Pebble Beach in the bag that I am cashing in, so the 3 of us are just splitting the cost of one round which is like $500 I think.Papelbon's Poutine said:I'm shocked you could play all three for $385. I would have figured Pebble alone would run you that, even if a bit less if you stay there.
Have a blast! Behind going back to Bandon that's my dream trip. Jealous.

Congrats youre hired as my swing coach. Straightened that out very quickly. Thank you!FL4WL3SS said:Sounds like you've steepened your swing in order to compensate for the thin shots - this will cause a pull/slice (depending if you square the face up or not). Make sure you're still swinging the club and coiling correctly on your backswing and not just lifting the club.
Got married in '87 and spent our honeymoon in Carmel. I played Spyglass but decided to pass on Pebble. (Was difficult and very expensive to get a tee time so I passed on the opportunity.)Zomp said:Enjoy man. I did it last year on my honeymoon. Second shot on 8 is a bitch.
Serously tho ive never hit my irons this flush. My new problem is carrying my 9iron 160. Sailed a lot of greens today.FL4WL3SS said:Good! Play well.

No shit, considering that's what he says his 9 iron does.Freddy Linn said:Dustin Johnson would be impressed.
9 iron is my 160 club. You going to call me a liar too?Papelbon's Poutine said:No shit, considering that's what he says his 9 iron does.

It's not that rare. It also isn't a 9-iron, it's a 40 degree (or something). Today's shelf 9 iron was between a 6 and a 7 for Hogan.FL4WL3SS said:9 iron is my 160 club. You going to call me a liar too?
I believe him. It's not that rare.
Not calling anyone a liar. Carry vs total distance are two different things. If someone tells me they're as long as the longest guy on tour, I might wonder if there's some factor not accounted for - wind, elevation, just flat out nutting one. Props to you both being super long.FL4WL3SS said:9 iron is my 160 club. You going to call me a liar too?

This makes a ton more sense. Keep it going.southshoresoxfan said:Sorry...not carry but a few definately went that far. I was consistently pulling it from 150 and getting it to or just past the pin tho.
148 is expected carry w a 113 driver swing speed (adjusting for speed as you go down). My speed when i got fitted for the driver was between 114 and 115.
Driver avg carry is about 270. 3iron-220
4iron-200
From there i drop about 10 yards per club or so give or take. Wasnt trying to brag or anything my scores havent caught up w my length by any means. But i am long
Can you expound on this? So basically if im too long w the 9 i should get a little more loft on all my irons? Even before the fix i was 140-145 pretty consistently w the 9. I carry a AW/SW/LW but typically low flight it inside 100 when possible. The aw is about 130-135 for me, sw 100-120 and lw about 70-80 full swing (which is rare as i prefer to pitch/bump and run)Freddy Linn said:It's not that rare. That being said, if your stock 9-iron carry is 160 you are playing the wrong clubs, and there is a great chance that virtually every shot inside 135 isn't close to being on a number. If you are consistently carrying it that far your specs are good enough for something you can work with.
Let's just stipulate that I was under the impression that your stock 9 carry was 160.southshoresoxfan said:Can you expound on this? Ha. Maybe you should find the weight room lomb. Wuss.Comfortably Lomb said:I though most modern irons have a few degrees less loft than 20-30 years ago? Not two clubs worth but certainly one(ish). Players are bigger and stronger too... And more willing to take a big cut at the ball more regularly.
I hit my i3 7-iron 155-160. =(
More than a few. A little Google searching found this table. Also notice the shaft lengths are also increasing. Delofting the club and increasing the shaft length helps sell clubs because the average duffer will hit the ball longer with a new 6-iron compared to the ones he bought in the '90s but, the cost is lack of consistency. Frankly, I always thought the obsession with distance was sort of stupid. If you are 150 yards out who cares what club you are using as long as you can land a ball within 15-20 feet from the hole. FWIW, I hit my 9-iron about 135 yards.Comfortably Lomb said:I though most modern irons have a few degrees less loft than 20-30 years ago? Not two clubs worth but certainly one(ish). I'm a 4.5 handicap with a custom set of Titleist MB irons. My 9-iron has 43 degrees of loft. I'm not bragging, but I play with a lot of really good players that are better than I am that hit it even farther than I do.
southshoresoxfan said:I care about distance because the longer out i can hit my 7-9 irons the more height i get/less roll out/ plus i tend to be more accurate
