By the way, bonus points for using the Sullivan wikipedia bio I used in my post as your source of information.

Unreal.
Stitch mentioned possible trouble learning the playbook. I thought I'd be helpful. I apologize for offending you. However I didn't "gank" your post. I hadn't even read it. You were Johnny on the spot so credit's all yours.

At this second, Gronk trending 1 on Twitter. The speculation is that Wright casts a dark cloud.

People need to understand that from the Pats' perspective, the ideal is both, not one.

Further, nobody informed believes what any team puts out there health wise on players returning from injury, much less what this tight lipped franchise says.

So it begins.  The health of Gronk is obviously enormous to the offense, but I also think you will see players like Amendola have a much better 2014 as well.  Will be great to see Gronk on the field again.

I know that Gronk is anything but on script but this is a little odd.  I cannot imagine that Belichick is loving that Gronk told Miami earlier than the Pats needed to that Gronk is playing.  I know it's not that big of a deal and that Miami would have planned on it anyway, but this isn't how things are normally done in Foxboro and keeping the opposition guessing as long as possible is what they normally do.

I'd give more than a few American dollars to have seen Bill's reaction when he heard the news of Gronk's little press conference.

Make no mistake, I'm ecstatic he's playing and know that Gronk's revelation wouldn't have raised an eyebrow in most cities.  This just isn't most cities.

Yes and it may cost Gronk some playing time. He may now play less than he thinks.

That occurred to me too but I tend to doubt it.  BB did that with Welker after he mocked Sexy Rexy, but that was tied to giving the opponent bulletin board info presumably, as opposed to giving them information.

The Phins are supposed to be weakest in the middle of the field (LBs and S). Having Gronk will of course help create space for Edelman, Amendola and Vereen. The matchups dictate that Gronk should play if he's ready. BB might be pissed but he'll still want use his "Queen".

BB would have been pissed if Gronk said he wasn't playing, there is zero percent chance this "revelation" changes the MIA prep whatsoever this week.

Seems BB was willing to lend a bit of a STFU gronk message to ESPN today.

"I'm glad that Rob is optimistic about his situation," Belichick said on a conference call Tuesday. "We will go through a week of practice, look at everything and everybody and see where everybody is at and try to do what's best for the team."

I think the idea that BB hasn't grasped the loose cannon that is Gronkowski and factored it into his thinking is a bit naive. He knows Rob is going to be Rob. So, he allows Rob to be Rob and then does his media ice-bucket challenge just to fuck with everyone.

Troll one for Belichick.

On NESN, Gronk said he wanted to get it (playing or not) out of the way so as to avoid the million questions all week about it. Can't say as I blame him. Or, should he have kept mum and taken the pestering?

Yup, and it's not like Miami is all of a sudden saying to themselves, "Oh crap, Gronk said he's going to play, now we need to figure out how to stop him!"  They've been saying that to themselves for weeks.

I agree Miami's coaches probably have been preparing that way.

The SoSH Dolphins contingent had a different reaction.

[Oops; missed that this was already covered above; mea culpa; will leave this here given the linked article]

Here's a shocker.

We shall see, say Bill and Josh.

http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2014/09/02/pats/VrZqnLbV0IOrzfbsQMwtzO/story.html?p1=Article_InThisSection_Bottom

Bill: “With all due respect to Rob, I’m glad he feels the way he does, but in the end, we’ll have to make the decision we feel is best for the team.”

“Rob’s been practicing and we’ve been out doing some different things, building our offensive systems and packages as we go,” McDaniels said. “Whatever we can, or are available to use him to do, however big, small, whatever the decision is at the end of the week, he’ll be ready to do it.

“We’re going to try and do what we think is the right thing to do to win the game this week. That would encompass the way we try to use all of our guys.

“When Gronkowski plays on Sunday against Miami, whatever that capacity may be, the greatest challenge will likely be how quickly he can get in sync with the offense.’’

Am I off-base or is it unusual for a coordinator to join Bill in the weekly press call?

McDaniels has done more of it than anyone else - even McDaniels, the first time.

There are occasionally NFL mandated "OC/DC/assistant" availability but I don't think this was one of those times. I think BB is giving McDaniels some more responsibilities (and practice?) and using his (BB's) time more wisely than talking to gossip mongers who are surprised when he wants to talk about, you know, football.

Yep.

I thought it was interesting that Josh was more revealing than Bill.  Bill disclosed nothing at all and while Josh let us know that Gronk will, in fact, play.  Not a huge difference but a difference nonetheless.

"Um, Josh, that's not quite what we're looking for there.  Tell them NOTHING."
