Manarino exits (6.1 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 7 K, 84 pitches, 55 strikes), yielding to RHP Evan Brock for the Eaters.

EDIT - Brock shuts the door. On to the b-7th.

The reaction when anyone hits a homer in TDAP ... it's like when pitcher homers in the big leagues.

Rob Anderson ‏@_robanderson 1m
In between home runs at the CWS, there were 923 batters, 3,436 pitches and 620 outs at the CWS.

TDAP is like the old Petco on whatever makes muscle atrophy.  Of course, the BBCOR bats used by these kids will sap the power of even the most prodigious slugger.  They fucking deaden the ball even when guys hit them square.

Apparently they'll be using a new type of ball next year, supposed to be a bit more lively.

The seams aren't raised nearly to the extent of the current ball. Less friction, greater flight distance. We'll see how the pitchers adjust to gripping it.

Hollingsworth hit 100 pitches as he finished the b-7th. FWIW, he threw 128 vs Texas A&M earlier in the tournament.

BBCOR bats actually have sweet spots, they're just the size of a nickle

We have 5'3' 110 lb kids at the U14 level who go from hitting 320 foot bombs using drop five big barrels to punch-n-judy hitters as soon as they switch to BBCOR.  But you are right, if a kid runs into one in the right spot, it can travel.  But that isn't often.

Garrido isn't making a change here?  Hmmm

Yeah, "In Augie We Trust" and all that, but the kid's at 109 pitches and Sparks can crush it.

And that curve, while stellar, looked waaayyyy outside. This ump's off his rocker with those calls.

Ball game. Great win for the Horns.

The Eaters were a blast to watch in the regional and super, but they just don't have the bats.

That makes 61 straight times that a team leading entering the 9th has won a College World Series game.

A strong band of nasty stuff passed through Omaha a couple of hours ago, but right now it's all clear to the west.

Obviously these can pop up at anytime this time of year, and the forecast there still calls for an "early evening t-storm". But the humidity's already dropped from the mid-90s to 51% so hopefully the area of hotter, drier air has already taken hold and we won't see any more frontal conflicts tonight. The mercury's supposed to hit 91 tomorrow.

Ole Miss takes a 3-0 lead on Tyler Alexander and TCU in the t-3rd. J.B. Woodman got it started with a leadoff double. After an Austin Knight sac bunt, Braxton Lee singled him home. Alexander hit Bousfield with a pitch, putting two on with one out, and Will Allen hit a double to the right-center gap to score them both.

Sam Smith on the hill for the Rebels, and he just set the Frogs down in order in the b-3rd (3 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 3 K). On to the t-4th.

Two on & no out for TCU in the b-4th, as Kevin Cron shoots a line drive single up the middle and Jerrick Suiter draws a walk.

EDIT - Garrett Grain hits a comebacker to Smith for what looks like a certain DP, but when he looked to 2nd both middle infielders were covering the bag and he hesitated, unsure of who to throw to. He nearly airmails it, but 2B Preston Overbey stretched to snare it and got his foot on the base for the force out as Cron heads to 3rd.

EDIT - Boomer White with a solid liner down the LF line for an RBI double to cut the Ole Miss lead to 3-1. Frogs with 2nd & 3rd, 1 out, Dylan Fitzgerald up.

EDIT - A walk loads 'em for Keaton Jones.

EDIT - Yikes, now he walks Jones on 5 pitches to force in TCU's 2nd run. The #9 hitter Kyle Bacak steps up, and that'll do it for Sam Smith. Righty Josh Laxer heads in from the bullpen. Bases still juiced, still just 1 out.

EDIT - Laxer gets Bacak swinging on a full-count, late-life FB that didn't break 90 mph. Two down for Cody Jones.

EDIT - Another full count on Jones, and he loses him. The 4th free pass of the inning walks in yet another run and we're tied 3-3. Derek Odell up.

EDIT - Wow, Odell gives it a ride to deep right-center, but J.B. Woodman moves a long way and makes the overhead catch while still running hard at the warning track. Inning over, and the Frogs strand three. On to the 5th.

Tonight's game is pretty much the opposite of last night's. No pitchers' duel whatsoever, as neither starter gets more than 10 outs.

Rebs retake the lead in the t-5th vs Jordan Kipper, as Bousfield & Austin Anderson draw walks and Sikes Orvis singles Bousfield in. But they end up stranding a pair.

4-3, Ole Miss.

Another HR in Omaha, as Kevin Cron leads off with a shot over the wall in left-center on a high fastball from Laxer. No inbound wind tonight to knock it down, and we're tied 4-4.

Rebels get a runner to 3rd on a J.B. Woodman walk, a Kipper balk, and an advancing grounder, but they strand him there. Still knotted at 4 heading to the b-6th.

Also, this is tremendous...

Ole Miss with 2 on and no out in the t-7th, after Kipper plunked Bousfield with a pitch and Anderson singled him to 2nd.

EDIT - Will Allen with a solid single to center, scoring Bousfield and giving the Rebs a 5-4 lead. Anderson stops at 2B, and we've got another pitching change as southpaw Travis Evans makes his 18th appearance of the season. He'll face LHH Sikes Orvis with 1st & 2nd, no outs.

EDIT - Orvis goes down swinging. RHH Preston Overbey due up, and the Frogs make their 3rd pitching change of the night as RHP Troy Teakell comes on.

EDIT - Teakell gets out of the jam, retiring Overbey and then getting Errol Robinson looking. On to the b-7th with the Frogs down 5-4.

Lefty Wyatt Short on in relief for Ole Miss in the t-7th, and he gets Cody Jones swinging and coaxes an Odell flyout to RF. Now it's Kevin Cron, and he gets him looking. Two changeups set up the fastball. On to the 8th.

A 1-2-3 inning in the t-8th for Teakell with 2 Ks on sliders, and he's retired 5 straight Rebels. On to the bottom half.

Short walks Suiter to lead off the b-8th, and Garrett Crain bunts him into scoring position for Boomer White in a critical RHH vs LHP matchup. With LHH Dylan Fitzgerald on deck, I doubt he gets anything good to hit here.

EDIT - Sure enough, after 2 outside pitches, they just decide to put him on.

EDIT - Short gets ahead of Fitz 0-2 and gets him swinging with the high heat. Two down for RHH Keaton Jones, and in comes RHP Aaron Greenwood for Ole Miss.

EDIT - On a 1-2 pitch, Greenwood launches a slider into the dirt. Great job by Knight behind the plate to block it, but the runners were already on the move anyway and both advance.

EDIT - Slow roller to Robinson who charges in from the 2B position, makes the quick glove-hand transfer, and guns out Jones to end the TCU threat. On to the t-9th

The Rebs grab an insurance run in the t-9th, as Will Allen singles with 2 out and Sikes Orvis doubles down the LF line to score him. That knocks Teakell from the hill, and TCU brings in lefty Alex Young who strikes out pinch-hitter Colby Bortles to end the inning with Ole Miss up, 6-4.

Last ups for TCU, down 2. Greenwood gets Kyle Bacak on a fly ball to RF. Cody Jones grounds out to 2B. And Derek Odell grounds to Allen at first, who flips to Greenwood for the final out. Ole Miss survives, 6-4, while the Horned Frogs' season is over.

The Rebels will now need to beat Virginia on Friday night and again on Saturday night.

Quite a start for Vandy Pitcher, Tyler Ferguson, who opened the bottom of the 1st by hitting Brooks Marlow on the very first pitch, walking Ben Johnson on 4 straight pitches, and then hitting Mark Payton to load the bases.  Ferguson got the hook before the inning ended, and Texas is up 2-0 early.

Vandy has tagged Nate Thornhill pretty hard at times today, but they've got nothing to show for it. He's through 3 innings with 57 pitches.

8 IP, 0 R, 6 H, 1 BB, 5 K. Another impressive outing.

Plus they got Curtiss back after his illness for a perfect 9th.

Lightning delay in Omaha with Virginia up in the t-2nd. Two on and no out after Derek Fisher reached on an error by Ole Miss SS Errol Robinson, and Brandon Downes singled to left.
